It’s cliche to play gotchas/I-told-you-so,
The reality is this: I Said once Cristobal was hired that expecting a “return” of the true U isn’t likely a possibility.
Not only does he have no history of being a HC capable of producing titles, he had a penchant for doing the LEAST with the MOST.
That’s who Miami currently is and has been. Cristobal was never answer to restore the U. At best, he’d be a nice bridge similar to what he did at Oregon FOR Dan to then ELEVATE.
His key points of sale are recruiting and OL production. In modern NIL, results matter most. Recruiting is only a tool to get you to a destination. More and more, it’s losing value and the ability to be creative and progress roster turnover is the key ingredient to LONG TERM SUCCESS.
Suntan U vibes by thinking he had the penchant to do what he never has done. His teams are lethargic even with extra reason/time to prep, and his UNIT has been the main culprit of the two losses with season with back breaking penalties and a inability to get room in the run game.
Zebras don’t change their stripes. Miami with Cristobal is different than Miami from 2005-pre-Mario:
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
A thorough cleanse would help, but no major goals of success will be reached with Mario.
