I'll try to do this after every game for those of us who are stat nerds. For Week 1, this is all games. Once we get a good bit into the season, I'll probably start showing only FBS vs FBS teams. Data gets really skewed when teams put up 700 yards on Savannah St.

But for Week 1, it's just everyone who has played a game, regardless of against who. So take all this with a boulder of salt for now.

OFFENSE:

Offensive YPP: 4.56 (103rd)
Offensive PPG: 20.0 (101st)
Offensive Rushing YPA: 2.42 (112th -- remember sacks count as rushing attempts in college football)
Offensive Passing YPA: 7.1 (67th)
Offensive Completion %: 63.3% (69th)
Offensive sacks allowed: 10.0 (130th)
3rd down conversions: 2/13 (123rd)
Punting Average: 42.5 (67th)

DEFENSE:

Defensive YPP: 5.53 (81st)
Defensive PPG: 24.0 (69th)
Defensive Rushing YPA: 1.79 (19th)
Defensive Passing YPA: 9.4 (117th)
Defensive Completion %: 63.0% (78th)
Defensive Sacks: 1.0 (84th)
3rd downs allowed: 2/10 (19th)

TEAM:

Takeaways: 4 (5th)
Giveaways: 1 (23rd)
Margin: +3 (5th)

Pretty awful across the board, as we all knew. Not too many teams have played a top 10 team, however (although we all know that's not really a top 10 team, but still). Lots of room to improve this weekend. Obviously protecting the QB and running the ball need to be the point of emphasis.

Lmao @ 1.9 yards defensive rushing being 19th.

Bro.

2 teams are giving up NEGATIVE yards per rush.

Michigan State played Tulsa...…..Tulsa finished the game with 25 carries for -73 yards. -2.92 a carry. They had 80 yards of offense for the game.

But.....Tulsa had a couple special teams and shotgun snap gaffes that resulted in huge losses which are officially runs. So that skewed it a lot. But still, they finished with 153 yards passing and -73 yards rushing LMAO. And crazy enough, they're not even #1 in total defense. Maryland gave up 68 yards to Howard.

That is hilarious. Negative 73 yards rushing and 68 yards total are embarrassing.

We allow two 3rd Down conversions and are 19th, like who the **** were the top 18 people playing

Exactly. It'll even out over the next few weeks as schedules balance.

But, to your 3rd down question, one of the teams ranked ahead of us played...….us.

The defense's 3rd down conversion % provides some hope, but then again, Franks was a disaster when it came to accuracy. Howell will actually be more accurate than Franks, but only off his first read and RPOs. Defensive game plan against UNC isn't extremely complicated.
