How many 3 and outs Miami's defense have forced this year and where it matches up compared to other teams. Run the same stat with our offense and that would be a great starting point for Al to bring up in a game plan. Please post if you have that data

We have the worst 3rd down defense in football, and the worst 3rd down offense. That's coaching.

Watered down by SSU and FAU. The true stat us the third down percentages. Getting one first down is meaningless.

The stat I would like to see is a TOP average. We must be near the very bottom.

Our offense had a 3 and out on a series that started 1st and 5 after VT jumped offsides LOL Never seen that before in my life.

So, against FBS competition, our offense has been forced into more three and outs than our defense has forced...probably a miracle that we're 7-2, even with a soft schedule.

First of all, thank you.

Take out FAU and SSU we have 25 3 n outs on offense and 16 on defense. That is 3.2 3 n outs a game on offense for is and 2.2 on defense. Like I said in a different thread, James coley needs equal heat if not more than Coach D. We have a lot more talent on offense than we do on defense and the stats above are disgusting. Because we can't sustain a drive and rely on chunk plays out defense is on the field way longer than they should be.

To be fair to Coley we had a lot of 3 and outs last year as well. Morris is a 3 and out king. Drive killer, plain and simple.

Thank you sir, add the turnovers to that and you have your problem,

No, I am not going to be fair to coley. Sounds like the mentality at Hecht. I expect a man making what he does to identify that issues with Morris and make it simple for him not to be a 3 n out king. The issue is that coley refuses to adjust and sticks with he thinks while failing to adjust to morris

What did Fisch do against good defenses last year? K state, UND, UNC and FSU? Much of nothing. As said over and over, the love for him is overhyped.

Coley shouldn't get a pass but we need to give him some more time. He has been riddled by injuries and the whole Morris quagmire. And I still believe the defense is hurting the offense more than we think. Being off the field for 11 minutes for a quarter can't be good. When we get the ball, the pressure is always immense. Not an excuse but to not have any faith in your defense to get you the ball back is burdensome.

My point was Morris is put in position but he just doesn't get it done. There were times last night (although he played his best game in weeks) where Morris missed open guys on third down because he bailed on throws, did not set his feet and what not. His mechanics completely breakdown if a defender gets within 3 yards of him. Haven't seen him step up into the pocket, make a throw and take a hit all season. I know some will say its the injury but he was doing this in fall camp in the highlights they gave and in the FAU and UF games as well.

Somewhat agree, I do not think that Coley's play calling is setting up Morris to move the ball. Yes Morris suffered from some drops last night but over the season can't say that we have put ourselves in a lot of 2nd and shorts to open up the playbook. Here is the pattern, run up middle on 1st for 3 yards. Stretch play on 2nd for 1 yard. 3rd and 7 now and incomplete pass, bring in O'Donnell.
