Why isn't that an annual game?

Also are the Catholic/Private Schools in the same district as Public schools?

District doesn’t have anything to do w whether public or private, sta is a much larger high school and they are in a different fhsaa division because of it, that being said they could play a game like a preseason classic type of thing that you see a lot of high schools doing now, but that’s on each of the schools to decide

I think there are 2-3 private schools in the BCAA (Broward County Athletic Association) and I believe STA and Cardinal Gibbons are two of them. But I got nothing on why they don't play. I kind of wonder why STA and Gibbons don't play as they are arguably the top 2 catholic schools in Broward.

NOt sure how accurate I am on this, but I believe there is no longer a BCAA, which is why anyone can transfer to any school at any time. And I believe STA and CG stopped playing was bc the difference in class size, similiar to why BTW and MNW never played. Also I believe Pinecrest and WA were in the old BCAA, and Chaminade..i think was private.
And before anyone says that CG stopped playing STA bc they never beat them, youre probally right...right now it might be different.

AH is sort of an upstart. St Thomas had bigger fish to fry. STA doesn't play a spring game so its pretty difficult to get it in a regular season game how STA schedules.

Gibbons used to be our biggest rivals at STA but at some point and I'm not sure when we stopped playing them. All I can say is we beat em by over 40 every time I played em in the late 90s early 2000s. In those days the schools where about the same size, and they are the original Catholic High Schools in Broward.

Some one already noted that AH is an upstart program compared to a program like STA. They will have to do it a lot longer to start making claims to playing for a Broward crown.

I personally think it could be cool for broward. Similar to how Columbus and Belen play every year and it’s a huge deal. Even though it’s been one-sided

A lot wrong here.

The BCAA still exists. STA, Cardinal Gibbons and Archbishop McCarthy are the private members.

BTW and MNW have played before.

The last game was in 2010.

There was actually a meeting between both principals and both athletic directors, moderated by Father Kelly, where Gibbons claimed that they would be better off dropping STA because the games themselves had "ruined their seasons" due to injuries, etc.

Chaminade actually opened a few years before Gibbons and was STA's main Catholic rival until the late 70s, early 80s when they dropped STA.

The BCAA consists of 32 teams, including 29 Broward County Public Schools, one charter school (Pembroke Pines Charter) and two private schools (Cardinal Gibbons and St Thomas). The BCAA offers a comprehensive sports menu with 24 sports programs.

Yup, I was thinking way back when MNW won national title.

Yup, lots have changed over last 18 years, BCAA is still active just policies have changed. IM to old and not local enough to try and keep up with it. Appreciate the corrections.

STA already plays multiple nationally ranked teams a year outside the district. It would be a cool matchup but it's not like Heritage is some long time powerhouse. They've only recently gotten into the private school recruiting game.
