Been some great LB trio's at UM, for me 'the Bermuda Triangle' is the best ever at Miami and maybe the best ever period if you go based on college and NFL accomplishments(years played, Pro Bowls, Super Bowls, etc)
But as true freshman, I think what last years group did was unprecedented at Miami(Smith, Barrow and Armstead didn't really come together as a unit till their junior years in 1991). That group was something else, they literally never came off the field - even in nickel situations or agains run-and-shoot teams like Houston. All three players were 3-down players whichi is extremely rare nowadays
I really expect Shaq, Pinckney and McCloud to be a legendary unit, one that should be talked about like 'the Bermuda Triangle' is today.
Some other great LB units off the top of my head at Miami:
- Dan Morgan, Nate Webster and Michael Smith(people forget he was headed to an NFL career before blowing his knee out in 99 vs Penn St_)
- Jon Vilma, DJ Williams, Chris Campbell(2001)
And Im sure I know I'm missing a few more RUN DMC's from this program
