Social media ban

Not a fan.

They’re teenagers. They’re glued to Twitter and Instagram. Let them have fun and have social lives.

I do think it would be smart to have a seminar once they’re enrolled about not saying stupid **** on social media. Put them on notice.

I think it’s stupid, kids still of there phone and still scroll social media but just don’t post, so not sure what the difference is. Sounds so minor, and honestly for a team like Miami we’d probably lose recruits to this. Clemson can do what they want as long as they keep winning.

I think it’s more important to get coaches and players like Clemson not adopt there social media regulations. Anyways they have putt putt golf and slides to occupy there time

Well when u get paid to play at clemson it becomes a job and u can tell kids to stay off their phones

It was discussed at CFB Live that Texas a&m adopted this ban for the players for the duration of fall camp. It speaks volumes to how serious they are to be an elite program. Then they mentioned that Clemson does it for the whole season and have been doing it for years. Do you guys think we should do this too?

**** YES

Agree. Educate them. If coaches don’t recruit mature enough players then that’s on them. Regardless, all a kid has to do is pick up his phone. Social media ban or not.

they are given a free 4 year education at a top private school. they work with the top trainers, nutritionist, coaches and facilities to showcase their talents and get better at a chance of getting a promotion to make millions of dollars in the NFL. want to pay them? ok. take all that away and make the kids have to split the cost of school, board, food, coaches, grounds maintenance etc.

Or maybe just EDUCATE them to use social media responsibly lol?

It’s always are offensive players beating their chest on twitter, you rarely hear anything from the defensive players during the season

I am on the fence when it comes to this issue.
I personally would like to ban it from everybody but can see why people would think that is a bit extreme. Kids these days seem to be addicted to it and can't function without it.

Maybe I would use it as a reward for both on the field and off the field accomplishments. If you are one of the star players on the team you can be on it. Make a huge play that impacts games and the sort.
Academically If you keep a certain grade point average you can be on it. If you do things in your community and various charities you can be on it, etc.
There is my middle ground.

It's not about using social media or not using it. It's about using discretion as to what you post. And for those talking about "educating " these guys about how to use it responsibly, this generation of kids has been getting "educated" in school since they were in elementary school. They have grown up with cell phones and social media of some sort. They choose to post what they post, regardless of all the educating.

That being said, I see no issue in posting pics of your team, your friends, working out etc. But you don't need to post pics and videos out in clubs, etc. Not necessary and certainly not an image that enhances your brand. At least not your brand as a representative of the U. I'm not saying you can't have a social life, etc. But you don't need to publicize it.

Just my 2 cents. And for what it's worth, I have two kids, ages 25 and 21. I get the social media thing....

But how will I know if a player has a fight with his gf? How will I be able to decipher through their messages and connect it to football ?

Pay them if you want to control them.
