After watching M. Lewis I wondered, is it permissible for a defensive player to bring a guy down by grabing his hair?
Yes, I know a lot of players have long hair today, but I have never seen someone tackled (?) by his hair. Not aware of any penalty, and it seens like if you can grab a guy's arm, or leg, why not his hair, as well? Isn't hair an appendage?

Yes you are allowed to tackle by grabbing his hair. It's considered part of the uniform.

pulling by the hair is considered legal...

Actually kind of an interesting point - with the new rules, would that now be considered a "horse collar"?

I thought it was legal.
Just thinking .... maybe we ought to get Duke, Coley & Dorsett into wigs on game day. While 'tear-away' jerseys have been outlawed, wigs have not. Would love to see Coley or Duke scampering down the field while some defensive back stands there with a hand full of wig!
Okey, you can grin now.

The way we've played recently, we might as well come out in these:

I remember a college game years ago where a guy was tackled by his dreads and the tackler pulled a couple out. The camera zoomed in on his dreads on the turf after the play.
