I'll preface everything by saying I'm not a Golden "advocate," and I felt it would be best for the program for him to take the Penn St job last year.

Here are a few questions I think we should ask ourselves with a bit of reason (which I know is counter-intuitive to most people on here):

1. Will Miami fire Al Golden this year? Short of them going 0-12, he will not be fired. He has a contract through 2019 and Miami couldn't afford that big of a buyout.
2. Should Miami replace one, if not both coordinators? D'onofrio deserved to get fired last year, without question. However, since that did not happen, we can't criticize him when his defense plays well. Yes, his defense started off statistically strong last year, but that was a result of weak competition. For those who are criticizing the numbers from the other night, the 2001 Miami defense averaged 270 yards a game. The team played Troy and Temple that year and offensive schemes were a bit less "dynamic." If Miami's defense averages 330 total yards (I think it will be much higher), it would be considered a good defense.

Coley was straight awful on Monday and he was bad last year. I remember people defending him, citing his balance and strong feel for the game. Honestly, I feel he had a lot to do with Morris' regression last year. Fisch wasn't a tremendous play caller, but he did develop talent pretty well and utilized the athletes more effectively. I don't think he will get fired, even if he has a horrible year, because of the recruiting blow back. Maybe I'm not reading the forum thoroughly, but the greatest Miami player would be prime for a return. Ken has done a tremendous job with Cam and it would be a wet dream to see him return.

3. Are we a national championship winning team? No, not this year. No coach would change that fact. The last ten national champions have all had top 5-10 recruiting classes consistently (with the exception of Auburn in 2010). Something we have not had. I felt this year was a "hold" year. One where we win 8-9 games. I'm still not giving up on that, but we shall see.

4. Should we be a top 25 team? Yes, no doubt about it. We have the talent, but we are not executing.

5. Is Kaaya the best QB on the roster? I think so. Regardless, now that we've gone with Kaaya, we are stuck with him for the remainder of the year. Starting Williams or Heaps does not help this program grow in anyway. I personally felt Ryan would have a tremendous year, but injuries happen and someone else has stepped up.

Oh. remember when everyone was up in arms in 2012 when Golden was being tied to the Tennessee and Penn ST jobs? Just keep a level head and see how things play out. Hopefully brighter days ahead.

Stopped reading here. Do you have a copy of Golden's contract?

Golden went all in on longevity. He will go down with it.

I'm surprised you could read that much, with that type of response.

I wholeheartedly believe that they wouldn't give a buyout that they can't afford. If a change needs to be made I think it will be regardless of a buyout..........

With that said, it was game #1. If we're in the same situation after game #8, then lets revisit the topic.
