Random question.

My wife dragged me out to her old school the other day after going to a turkey farm to pick a bird. (NIU) Anyways, saw their gear truck parked next to their stadium and it reminded me of Notre Dames parked outside our stadium as well. I know from everything I have seen or, lack there of, that we dont have a branded semi.

Question is... Is anyone familiar with how we handle our shipping logistics for away games? I know its not a playoff post or a chip kelly inquiry. Honestly curious.

I'm guessing it gets flown up either on the same charter flight or another one just for gear. My guess is that gear comes with the chartered flight that the team is on.

I suppose they can fly it up ahead of time

Thats what I was thinking as well but not so sure. If a team needs enough gear to fill a semi (assuming) and the plane takes staff and 50-60 players plus bags etc. Not sure their would be enough room underneath on 737?

Miami has a semi. The equipment room guys have mentioned how hard it is to set up the truck at FSU.

Interesting. Im guessing that they must lease from ryder etc. as i have never seen anything branded in the lot.

Just saying. It would be bad *** to see it rolling down the freeway.

You're probably right.

I'd wager that we fly most of our gear most of the time. I'd also guess we travel more miles than almost every single Power 5 team. Miami and Boston College constantly have to be taking flights to get into the heart of the ACC.

I'm sure they third party it out, it doesn't make any sense in this day and age to have your own semi for 5-6 away games a year. The branding is cool but miami is cheap.

Thought I had seen something one time where it was shipped by fed ex when the game was more than 600 miles or something like that.under that we drove it.

Great question, I was wondering how we ship everything after I saw a VT semi passing through Boynton Beach the other week, **** when I get my class a CDL I'd gladly drive a UM semi all over for the team

How many games are we even playing sub-600 miles these days?

Tally is 500 miles alone, next closest is Atlanta and that is nearly 700.

Last year Miami traveled more than any Power 5 school that didn't go outside the country for a game, we did 9,660 miles.

For context Auburn did 1,748 miles last year, didn't fly to a single road game.
