Miami Southridge High School CB Shawn Davis landed a Hurricane scholarship offer today.

"Their coach talked to my coach, said they were offering," said Davis, who lists 11 offers now. "I was glad about it, it was my first offer in Florida."

He says UM is "in my top five now."

The others: Auburn, Alabama, USC, Tennessee and UM.

"They're all even," he says.

Davis spoke with coach Thomas Brown after getting the offer through his coach - "He said they watched my highlights, that they'll be giving me a full scholarship," Davis said. "We talked for 20 minutes. He's a great coach, kept it real with me."

Davis says he will "wait a while" to make a decision.

He says he plans to attend Miami's junior day Feb. 20.

"This is the new Miami," Davis said. "The old things are going to change with the new coaches - they'll be real good."

NEW Miami.

How is Tennessee even in discussion for a lot of these recruits down here? Butch Jones is driving that ship right in the ground

The reason all these kids mention Tennessee, is mainly because of coach Scott. That's his sole purpose for getting hired there .He has his south Florida roots from when he was with us .

They are in discussion, but they NEVER get any elite talent from So florida..the last recruit close to that stature they got was LB Curt Maggitt in 2012...they might get a prospect or two from central to northern florida, but that is it... thanks to Willie Martinez, Zach Azzani...guys with some florida ties...

Crazy this guys has offers from Bama, Miami, USC and others but isn't even ranked on pretty much any website. Guess that's another reason to look at offers and not stars, but he'll probably get some recognition soon enough.

That's cause he hasn't been evaluated yet, once he does he'll start out as a 4*

That is a lie. A bunch of recruits from south florida mentions tennessee every year but none really ever end up going. Larry Scott has no plugs in south Florida.
