All the Blake James & BOT jokes aside. As an alum (Graduated in 2008, born and raised here) I’ve always been curious because at times it seems like the boosters and/or BOT have gone over the AD’s head to fire or hire (Golden firing/Richt hire) someone. So with all this fire Blake stuff I’ve always felt like his influence depends on how the hire was executed. Also seems like more resources not just salary $ is available to coaches on a sliding experience scale.

This manny hire was the only time he didn’t seem to consult anyone. Hocutt &eichorst before him seemed to have Shalala breathing down their necks. Any insight @Alex Jones @TheOriginalCane @DMoney @SWFLHurricane ?

To speak broadly of our problem. I think it's a societal issue as well. The population of America has become more effeminate is some areas. Miami being one of them. Where football is a little too extreme. We have "evolved" past this brutal pastime why still measure our worth by wins and Championships? Other than having that income source to use on more sophisticated projects - they would probably be okay with no football at the University at all. Concentrate all resources (money) and energizes to whatever trendy, woke, Women's Studies degrees printed on compostable material that will get them the most prestige in their socioeconomic circles. That's why we are here ladies and gentlemen!

The Universities that are the football powerhouses: Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Texas A&M, all SEC teams. They have an....let's call it "old school" view of their football program. They still "measure their Johnson's" with wins and Championships. And it shows with the performance of the football program year after year. As a Miami fan I respect that decision of those Universities to make football a priority, and am envious of them. They did not let the Donna Shalala's of the world in! And if they did they were smart enough not to listen to their counsel, or elevate them to a real power position. Miami was not, and we see the results.

Football is a priority, new IPF, new training facility, new coach offices and new dorms.

All cost many millions of dollars and more to come.

We just ignore hit because our pride demands it.

You lost me at Michigan bro. Invalidated your entire argument. Definite how in the world they are still considered a “powerhouse”? They have one Natty since 1948 (1997) and live on their history just like we do. If anything, their history is much more ancient than ours. If you just took them out you had it!

Not sure how "independent" Blake was in the Manny hire. My understanding some on the board were fine with the move and ultimately their voices won out over dissenters. Some wanted Mario. Doubt Blake makes that hire without any support whatsoever.

What if we’ve been lied to about how Manny happened?

Remember that Papi is one of the more powerful politicians in South Florida and was part of the dirty Marlins Stadium deal. Doing a Corleone Bandleader deal with some whales on the Board to make sure that his Boy gets the UM job would be childish play for Diaz Senior. You just make sure that some favors are done for the right people (building permit waivers, that kind of thing).

And you think that the Manny hire happened in 20 minutes because Blake did it himself? He doesn’t have that kind of mojo!

From what I understood the support for Manny came after Blake made the decision on Manny

If His dad had that have that kind of power you think he’s getting fired three seasons in? He’s not making it to November

Not sure about timing but no support would probably have meant no Manny. Blake doesn't have that kind of power, and whatever power he has, likely has diminished.

Yes he is.

Papi is cochair of the Florida Democratic Party, if mammary serves. The Young Lad isn’t going anywhere without a full payout and a Golden (so to speak) parachute into another Program.

Been saying this.

The “Blake did it by himself” line is not believable
