All due respect this is more about Oklahoma pumping out Heisman winners at quarterback and having stability with Lincoln Riley after 18 successful years with Bob Stoops at the helm.

Even if Miami was in much better shape in 2019 than it was, there was zero doubt Oklahoma was the perfect fit for Hurts that season.

Miami needs to get better as it’s been 20 years of irrelevance for a program that used to win big.

Saban pushing Hurts to OU wasn’t an indictment on Miami; it was praise of a Sooners program that legit hasn’t missed a beat this century—with four Heisman-winning quarterbacks since 2003; and back-to-back winners (2027, 2018) when Hurts was looking to transfer.

It was a lay-up and no-brainer; just so happened for Hurts that 2019 was the year of Joe Burrow, or he’d have been the third in a row in Norman.

With all the Crimson Tide success I think that Saban has always had a hard one on what our Canes were all about back in the day. He saw it happen.

The king of College football and don't forget it, was our mantra.

Even if he tried, Saban could NEVER make a defining and indelible impact as our Old Canes did for so long......always he seemed to have that itch against our Canes because he knew they wrote the book on their eras.
Schnelly, JJ, Erickson, and Davis were innovators, not plug and play like he is doing today.

He is now scared that Mario knows, not only Miami, but Bama inside and out, and he will use that knowledge to build something that may challenge him, just like Smart is doing now.

Methinks he will retire in a year or two, and sell cars instead of chase recruits........... so his fears may win out but unfortunately, he will not be there to feel the effects or the impact, longterm .

The Canes are rebuilding and he **** well knows it.

tech enos who would have been the main draw for hurts since Manny didnt overstep on O. saban didnt trust Enos to run an O and didnt have great things regarding hurts next spot. once OU was after him, it was a no brainer. Riley resurrected his career and turned him into an NFL top 2 Round pick when he wasn't seen as that at the end in bama

same holds true for any skill offensive recruit under the current HC and previous OC. only OC I would have trusted would have been lashlee even w the Manny issues (not a shock that the top transfer QB in king Chose lashlee)

Right, which is y we didn’t fare so well in that department recruiting for HS or transfer players.

That year I remember wanting Tyree Jackson from Buffalo.

He plays tight end for the Eagles now but had good college stats at QB and had to have been better than what Jarren Williams, Nkosi and Tate Martell gave us that year. 9-3 was very possible.
 
Though he was correct...this time, this is nothing but Saban taking credit for where Hurts is right now. This is absolutely a recruiting pitch that says, "trust in me, I know everything and you'd be foolish to doubt me." He has enough people spiking the ball for him for him to go on the "I told you so" tour.
 
Saban didn't want Miami getting a new shiny toy. He can disguise it as looking out for Hurts all he wants but he has a vested interest in keeping Miami down so he can continue to pluck the top kids from down here. Same reason why he throws shots at our NIL all the time.

I wonder why Saban hired Locksley and Enos if he didn't think they could develop QB's.

It's obviously sour grapes that Saban told him not to go to Miami or Maryland. The 2019 offense had NFL talent, maybe not as good as Lamb and Rambo, but pretty good, and would've looked much better with Hurts.
 
As soon as he hit the portal, and Lincoln called, it would of been a rap anyway.

I swear Saban is the ultimate politican. He takes every opportunity to paint of image of himself and his program

Respectfully disagree. I HATE Saban. They make him out to be the arbiter of what is good and bad in college football when he is no different than any other coach always looking out for his own best interests. He will have his players' backs as long as they are productive and can get him wins. Once they lose their usefulness, he forgets them. Just an arrogant and selfish SOB.

That being said, to say his teams NEVER could make a defining and indelible impact on the sport is just plain Cane homerism. I won't say his teams were as talented as 2001, but they did have a very similar run to what the Canes did from 1983-1991. One could argue it is even harder to do it now with the $$$ being thrown around at such a large number of schools on coaches, facilities, etc. And he has adjusted with the times as the spread offense has become the standard in college football today, he brought in coordinators to keep with the times. The guy has won 1 more NC at Alabama in less than 15 years than Miami has won in its history. Like I said, I HATE the guy, but respect him all the same.
