Hmm. People are picking apart Butch as if he didn't achieve success. All coaches have their flaws, but it starts with recruiting and defense wins championships. Butch is that, and obviously so is Saban.

Yes because being even against your biggest rival is the same as being 1-5 against FSU at UM, 1-5 against VT at UM and 0-4 against UNC's biggest rival NCSU.

Strawman.

This thread is for debating the merit of Saban as Miamis next head coach.

I, for one, don't want a Head Coach that's lost a meaningful rivalry game in his career. Pass on Saban.
 
This is effed up how this forum has turned into a Butch vs Anti Butch forum. I don't care who we hire. Just make sure he's the best guy up there. Don't give me the money excuse. If we are going to be elite, then we need to pay up.

early on, yes. butch losing vs. fsu when he had 50 scholarship players is different than butch doing so in his 5th year when he has built his program.. golden, losing early on when he followed Clappy and Randy, plus all the other stuff that was going on.. is different than golden losing in year 4 and subsequently year 5.
