You're not understanding where the knock on arm length becomes a topic of conversation. It's not because of any of his moves at all. Arm length becomes a topic strictly when you talk about tackling( in this context). Other place is talked about is an extension of tackling and that's from the ability to shed blockers & wrap up.

I'm not discounting any of the potential disadvantages, just pointing out how it helps one of his best moves (which he uses to shed blocks effectively).
