Romello Brinson transfers to SMU

Yeap.....wait for that thread on former players Ballin at other schools, especially if we have another poor season.

They haven’t started yet and the thought of them is already painful …

Better stretch before that mental gymnastics competition

When did he run this 4.4 at “one point?” Was this a laser, officially verified time? Was it while at The U?

I can unequivocally say I’ve been around many 4.4 guys; and not to toot my own horn, but I was a 4.44 guy myself in high school. I didn’t remotely see a 4.4 guy, & I’ve been around 4.4 guys w/ long strides, so it wasn’t that, either. Rambo looked faster than Brinson, & Rambo is a 4.57 guy.

I'd imagine it stems from recruiting. There's always a bunch of ridiculous numbers thrown out when players are trying to improve their stock so they get recruited at a higher level. Most people don't have a clue about "real" 40 times, one guy says something and everyone rolls with it. In reality there's not many 4.3 guys and most 4.4 claims would translate to high 4.5's or 4.6's.

****, even when someone runs something at the combine, say it's a 4.4 whatever. Their pro day rolls around a week later and you'll see people propping up their pro day number which some guy with a stopwatch says they got a 4.3 or even high 4.2. That **** is always crazy to me.

Agree, totally. However, what bothers me w these narratives is we’re The U, not Iowa, Iowa St, Nebraska, Northwestern, Illinois, or any other Mid-Western school that tends to lack real speed in its history. We know what 4.4 looks like! So I’m just not sure when fans want to come chime in to defend a kid that they throw out these outrageous claims, when we know good & well what speed looks like!

We’ve been a slow team for a while, & it’s not close. We’ve had “a” guy here & there w/ real burners, but let’s be honest, our WRs, including Brinson, have lacked burst & speed for a minute. Richards was a long strider, & when that dude got the ball in his hands, he had wheels…not Romello.
