Not sure if this is the right place or way to post this but

Who is Romeir Smith?

Saw this on ig yesterday and also saw canesville posted about it on twitter but haven’t ever heard of him and he didn’t get any hype from dtrain etc

Can anyone fill me in?

That twitter post is already deleted? Can’t find it. Saying someone (or yourself) is 6’5 225 and runs a 4.2 is just an insane thing to post

That caption actually had me thinking this was an elaborate extension of an online dynasty, but to my surprise, Romeir Smith is a real person, and definitely not a freshman. Maybe one of those scholarship only, no NIL players but idk……….. kid could just be a major fan and we’re witnessing mental illness and an attempt to get a scholarship.

We already saw one recruit legit make a fake reporter profile up to try to trick schools into giving him NIL money and scholarship offers so anything is possible

He could be a freshman if he reclassified / did a gap or prep year tho. But with the new 5 for 5 rules, it’d matter when his birthday was. His high school having the team nickname “phantoms,” adds to the hilarity of all this

Holy fucc....we getting Mike Vick?

Just for fun let’s say we got a Mike Vick clone who would be a true freshman this year . Do you start him over Mensah? Vick was a human cheat code, but I think you would have to go with proven college numbers over a true freshman qb, no matter how athletically gifted.

Ok, real answer this time.

No. You start Mensah. I had to cheat and look up Vick's college numbers. For some reason, I only see two years of stats https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/michael-vick-1.html. He redshirted, played two years, then bolted to the league. To be honest, his stats kind of suck for a QB. Obviously I'm making this statement without any context of the scrambling and running game he brought and that was the game changer for him. Mensah meanwhile has stats that are light years better. I'll also acknowledge that it's a way different time and era of CFB in terms of rules (ahem, targeting. ahem, pass interference) and general offensive schemes.

I didn't really want to bring stats into the discussion because you can't measure Vick the way you measure other QBs in a traditional sense. That said, he redshirted at VT which says all I need to know - he wasn't ready.

Part of the deal that Vick's high school coach (who was in 'North Dallas Forty', the WR who got smashed in the game, IIRC, name was Tommy Beamon) was that whoever got his services, had to redshirt him. Frank Beamer agreed to it, and that's why he was a RS in 1998
