Good God. Reading that entire roster again and seeing the ridiculous level of talent on that team is an eye-opener. You know that it was there, but seeing it in writing again still overwhelms.

Did Jovonny Ward actually enroll at Miami? I thought he went to Pitt or somewhere.

Also, our QB depth was abysmal. Apart from that it is an impressive list.

Butch proved that he could find guys like Reed, Morgan, Dorsey, Portis, Shockey, Mckinnie, and a bunch of other guys that weren't extremely highly regarded. If Golden can do the same then we're in business. However, recruiting has changed a lot since then. Less guys falling through the cracks. We know who the studs are for the most part. Go get them.

So, even though Butch assembled the greatest college football team ever, he could've done better, right?

No, not really. He inherited a mess, got hit with sanctions, and turned us into a monster.

Don't we have both of those hurdles?

Absolutely less.. but it still happens every year. VT signed their stud TE in like May or June when nobody else wanted him.

I thought you didn't want projects?

Golden inherited an even bigger mess. Coker and Radio Charmin combined was worse than probation ever could be. Golden also endured sanctions and negative recruiting since stepping on campus. Golden is doing a better job with the roster he inherited which tells me he's a better game day coach than Butch was. Golden also has an eye for talent and will have this monster built in no time.

Butch didn't do **** until year #5. Golden has Miami at 7-1 in year #3.

Every team has projects, but Butch proved to be the absolute best ever at finding guys from out of nowhere like Shockey and McKinnie. I don't know how he did it, but he was the best ever. If Al proves to be even 85% as good as Butch at finding these gems then I'll shut up. However, the landscape has changed. It will be tough to compete with the Bamas and FSUs when they're snatching up the 5 star savages that are all ready to play immediately.

This post confirms you're a troll. A mopey, impatient troll.

If you say so. I don't know what else Butch could have done better except gameday coaching.

I mean some of you guys really need to open up your eyes. Golden's done a **** of a job considering the circumstances, but we've underachieved since we began the ACC slate. You want to sweep it under the rug and swallow every drop? Go ahead.

they said the same things before. Learn your history before you try to troll. The FSU's and Bama's have always gotten the higher rated players.

Multiple players on that roster had Hall of Fame written all over them. No doubt Reed gets in. I think Dre has a good shot and if Sean was still with us I think he would have ended up there as well. Probably won't make the Hall of Fame, but CP ended up the Redskins second all-time leading rusher running behind lines that weren't as good as the ones he ran behind at UM.

We've got some really talented youngsters on our current roster - Duke, Bush, and Tracy come immediately to mind - that should play a long time at the next level. I know there are others.
