BLUF: Corch, croot, and porster crowd will go pollo loco after reading this...

As a Cane lifer, I want to see the squad crush and dominate all comers. As a Cane realist, I also recognize the team isn't there yet, but Richt and company have them headed that way.

A strategy for Richt in Y1 of his tenure would be to give the world something they can bite into wrt "Miami is headed back" to consistent national relevance. Just beating FSU/ND isnt enough as the nay sayers will say, "all nets are off in intense rivalry games..blah, blah, blah..."

An outright ACCCD championship and appearance in the ACCCG, I believe, will provide that post Y1 momentum to set the program up for Y2+ with "here we come again" expectations (awesome poster with Searcy for those who remember).

With above said, here's my take (the long view) on the strategy for Miami to make it happen...

Set an early tone on 3, 10, 17 Sep with efficient and unquestioned Ws against FAMU, FAU, and App St. O looks as good as it can first 3 games, and D settles in, swarms, and gets off the field with 3rd down stops.

Then...get Ws for these "must win" contests...

1 Oct GT
15 Oct UNC
20 Oct VT
5 Nov Pitt
12 Nov UVA
26 Nov Duke

Win these games and Miami takes it first ever (how has it come to this!?) outright ACCCD championship and makes the ACCCG. Regardless of the FSU/ND outcomes (barring Clemsonesque prison beat downs), winning the ACCCD and playing in the ACCCG will go much farther than beating FSU/ND AND NOT winning the ACCCD.

Again, all above is wrt Y1 and not Y2+.

Like all Cane fans, I want to see the team competitive at the highest level on the largest stages.

For Y1, winning the ACCCD outright with no help and playing in the ACCCG will go a long way towards very bright Y2+

3 Sep cant get here fast enough!

Go Canes.

Awesome strategy. Win the games you should win and then maybe pull an upset. I hope Richt follows this foolproof strategy.

And tragically...exactly WHEN have our Canes successfully pulled it off?

The point is(was) with most of the D1P5 "divisions and CG formats", along with the CFB, there are now three "seasons" for these teams: 1) overall; 2) division game season; and 3) CFP (if you make it).

Miami, since joining the ACC, has yet to successfully execute #2 . For the long term benefit of the program, that simply must change.

I think we should lose the first three games just so the ACC lets their guard down.

A bold strategy indeed.

Would certainly suit ESPN for a L against App St wouldnt it?

I can hear May and Holtz now...somehow tying the loss to giving Miami the death penalty.

Well, if we BET on all those games we would make a killing. We could then invest that money in paper bags and contents for said bags. We'd land every recruit we wanted, run the table, and be set for the near and far future...

Oh nevermind. Let's just beat the crap out of them and get ready for ACC play.

Looking forward to May and Holtz this year on ESPN?[/QUOTE]

Point taken...I was just harkening back to two of their (now former) loudest voices of irrational douche baggery when it came to all things Canes...

OP lost me at BLUF.

All nets are off.

What an idiot.

Appreciate catching the typo.

You do realize "b" and "n" are right next to each other on a keyboard...

You have self ID'd...I kid..I kid...

You need to be really careful when typing the word bigger.

Bait away. Waste of your time a digital ink.

Since we get to decide which games we'll win, why not win them all?

Brother Kryp...

Im with you 100%...win every game...just A LOT of chatter about, "if Canes dont go 10-x, or if they dont beat FSU, etc.. the season is a bust..."

I just happen to have the outlook that what sets the program up the best long term is a convincing ACCCD championship amd ACCCG appearance in Y1.

Now in Y2+, I'm thinking the talk is legitimately going to center around ACCCD (given), ACCCG (given), AND crush FSU, etc...
