Richt would be a better hire than Butch or Herman. We need fla to beat uga this wknd and then this might become reality

No he is not. I went to UGA and have been to many games over the last 8 years. He would be a horrible fit. Most UGA fans I know want him out and want a change. He has always under produced.
 
My in laws are UGA season ticket holders and my sister in law is faculty at UGA. I go to 1-2 games a year. Most UGA fans don't want Richt out. Some do. Richt would be a good hire. He's not my top choice, but I could get on board. I'm not sure he'd be the perfect fit since, culturally, he's more in line with small town SEC, but I'm sure he could make it work.

I upvoted you only b/c I really like Richt. I think he would absolutely kill it here. Like Butch, he's a safe choice, imo. He's coached on a big time level and has he some real success. I think a venue like the U with our recruiting grounds, playing in the ACC would be killer.

I know some are down on him b/c of his lack of titles, and seemingly underachieving teams...but let's be honest, the SEC is brutal. At any given moment you can get knocked out. It's a log jam there, primarily b/c they get so much love from the writers. One loss, and it's a wrap there.

I like him as a candidate. If it's going to be proven coaches, it should be Butch and Richt....up and comer...Herman.

He has won ten games nine times. The only people who think he has "underproduced" are the Georgia fans who don't appreciate what they have.
 
There is a long gap between Butch and Mark. Butch is far and away the best for THE U. Mark is a nice guy but might not have what it takes here. That said, he is probably my second choice at this point, unless Chud comes with Butch in tow as DC and recruiting Czar. I'll take either one that has Butch as DC and recruiter.

He has maxed out at UGA and is a good coach
He would be a decent hire, but no one is a good hire when Butch is an option

That statement is flat wrong. One loss SEC teams almost invariably remain in the national title picture.
 
If you can't win a championship at Georgia, you're not going to win one at Miami.

The state of Georgia is loaded with talent at every position each year.

Except one is in the sec and the other the acc.... not to mention the coastal is the worst division in p5 ftball. All you have to do is beat fsu at most twice a yr and clemson maybe once and your in playoffs
 
No. Worked at UGA for two years (06-07) and have followed them a bit since then - Richt is a good coach but will NEVER win a championship anywhere. He'll get you to the conference title game once every 3-4 years, win between 8-10 games annually - basically he'll do just enough to keep his job, but never get over the proverbial hump. There are better options IMO.

Playing the likes of the Coastal Division every year, Richt would live in the ACC Championshop. He also could beat FSU. He can recruit and could build a very good staff. Also would improve our strength and conditioning program. It seems like if it isn't Butch you people will find any excuse.
 
No, I'm not really a Butch fan (Herman guy here.) I just have seen what Richt can do even with vaunted $EC talent and resources and it's underwhelming. I think we'd be disappointed.
