Redskin fans were OVERJOYED when Snyder brought back J.Gibbs

Its funny that our own so called fans are being like the media and being dishonest about what we want. No reasonable person thinks Butch is recreating 2001. No one is, if be a miracle. Anyways we want to be competitive, we want to win the ACC and we want to be in playoff discussion and Butch can do it, totally. Is that unrealistic. Some of you are just straight idiots. If Butch is no guarantee to do it....again. Show me the new person who is guaranteed to do it....the first time, and I'll take it. 100% guaranteed. Where is he?

Not Joe Gibbs example, but 3 great college coaches couldn't come close to duplicating the same success the next time around in majors, Walsh(rip), and Robinson,

Clean the glasses off and look closer. Butch is not coming back to duplicate the same success. Those guys all succeeded, but left job undone. Butch is coming to FINISH not duplicate. Your comparison could be valid for Howard or JJ but not Butch. Butch is not coming home to relive something. He screwed the Washington game and cost himself an NC and us another one. He has been kicking himself in the *** for ******** up the greatest opportunity in his life. JJ and Howard reach the pinnacle and coming back would be to recapture that. Butch NEVER had it. He clearly has a fire in his belly to get what he fail to get. These analogies are all flawed and invalid.

OMG the Hecht is giving free credits for all who will come with these **** poor comparisons and comical attempts to discredit Butch and get us to back off. LOL.
Keep the pressure up men!

BUTCH OR YOU'RE NEXT BLAKE

this. I'll ask again, is there any other P5 program that would have Blake - an underperforming ticket salesman - as its AD?

That's all fine and you have a great point. There is no such thing as a sure thing. Having said that and conceded your point to you, that is not a good enough reason not to hire him. I don't think that the fact that others have failed after going back to a place they were successful before is reason enough not to hire Butch again. I think these things are best judged on a case by case basis.

Like I said, as adults we know that there is no such thing as a sure thing or an absolute certainty. I as well as most Butch supporters here know very well that there is a possibility that things don't work out this time around. We don't know if Tom Herman would work out(I think he would) or Fuente or anyone else for that matter. What I also know is that the past 3 hires haven't worked out and it wasn't close save for Coker who gravy trained a title off of Butch's recruits and foundation.

I'm not looking at a potential Butch Davis hire as a 100% surefire certainty for success but I do think that it is simultaneously the best, the safest and most prudent hire we can make given where we are, where we have been and where we want to go.

And given our self-imposed financial limitations. Even assuming the $4M is correct, which I'm skeptical, we're not hiring Chip Kelly or some other purportedly "surefire" savior.

Butch checks every block and gives us the best chance to get back on top of CFB, just as he did previously under much more difficult circumstances.

....and Gibbs didn't exactly lead them back to the promised land. Turns out that he wasn't the same Joe Gibbs. Southern Cal brought back John Robinson in the mid 90's, and then they fired him when he couldn't return them to their late 70's/early 80's glory. Just pastries for thought, folks. It isn't 1995 and Butch is no longer an uber-ambitious/hungry assistant looking to advance his career and make some serious $$$$$. He is now a 63 year-old television analyst who has been fired from his last two coaching gigs. The sport of college football has also changed "somewhat" since 1995, as has the world around us. In his four years at UNC, Davis went: 4-8-unranked, 8-5-unrnaked, 8-5-unranked, 8-5 - unranked, losing the "Meineke Car Care" Bowl twice. Sure seems he plateaued at 8-5 and never provided UNC with a "Breakthrough" season the fans all expected when he was hired in 2007. Just FYI.

Can we please all stop pretending that hiring Davis in 2015 would be a "SURE THING", akin to hiring Urban Meyer, Jim Harbaugh or Nick Saban? If Davis was such a SURE THING, he would be high on every school's wish list, yet he is basically begging the Canes to interview him for the job. I find that interesting.

Flawed thinking. Butch is not returning to past glories. He lost here, remember the Washington game. Butch is coming back to FINISH not relive. Missing getting his own NC is eating away at his soul. Butch is not Urban. Butch will not necessarily be great somewhere else. But he is the perfect coach for Miami right now. He has proven that he is a great recruiter anywhere but more importantly, he has proven he is the greatest recruiter ever WHEN he is at THE U. He was JJ's recruiter who not only built JJ's NC team but left Dennis his 2 NC teams. Then he came back and built the great assembly of talent ever seen and left Coker a NC team. Now he want his OWN NC team. He will be fierce, fierce like we have never seen.

This thread is pointless. None of those guys are butch davis. What does them succeeding have to do with Butch?

The NFL and NCAA are apples and oranges. Coaching has a much bigger impact in College than in the pros.

Also, Gators fans DESPERATELY wanted Foley to bring back Spurrier after the Zooker was sh*tcanned, yet he decided to go with Urban Meyer. I think that worked out well for Florida.
Because in my crystal ball I was able to forecast the future, and I knew that somehow Spurrier would not have led the Gators to national titles as well.

Because Butch Davis led NC to their first winning season in 10 years. He did it year 2, Mack Brown needed 5 years to do the same with NC.

Along this line of thinking, since we've lost to FSU 6 times in a row, we should just forfeit all remaining match-ups because things can never be different. Other teams, comprised of completely different individuals, lost multiple times in a row so they will continue to lose regardless of different personell and circumstance. OP may have something here....

LMAO the redskins problem is the clown owning them. He could bring in Belichick and that franchise would still be ****. Sell the the Skins Dan and go back to what your good at.
