They are Schnelly, Johnson, Erickson, Davis, Coker, Shannon, Golden, Richt and Diaz.

Somewhat bizarrely, I think the chronological order is also the same as the order of how good they were. Richt gets the next to last spot since he brought Diaz to town.

No, that's not how it works. Richt is by far better than Coker, Shannon and Golden and Diaz was fine as the DC hire.
 
Because I want to use a monkey wrench, would anyone mind if I snuck Lou Saban ahead of Erickson??

Saban led the ascension with great local talent of his own.

Johnson vs. Erickson is an interesting discussion but I give the nod to Jimmy due to recruiting.

Howard vs. Butch is also an interesting discussion but I give the (slight) nod to Howard due to Xs and Os.

Schnelly, Johnson, Davis, Erickson, also rans. I give Butch nod over Erickson because of the recruiting. Once Butch's boys were gone Erickson was done. Also, Erickson was in charge when the Pell Grant scandal(I do blame the administration much more that Him). This is Miami so anyone who wants Butch behind Erickson has valid point -- Titles matter. Howard had a NCAA issue also but going from nothing to NC makes up for it.

If the question is which one leaving hurt the most, it is Butch. His eye for players and coaching talent was greater than even Howard. His field coaching shortcomings would have cost us some titles his players could have won but we probably win at least one every three years if he had stayed. If Butch was still here there is no way the talent would have dropped this low. Saban might have still revived Bama but not like today. Butch would have gotten at least 4 rings by now. Keep in mind how clean a program he ran and players he recruited were. Howard and JJ, better coaches, but both had problems with troubles.
 
Manny lost at home to a team that lost to The Citadel.
Manny almost lost to CMU. At home.
Manny lost to a VT team that was a double digit underdog the year after Richt BLEW they bichass out.

Golden got swept by K-State
Never beat FSU

Randy...USF loss is still top 3 worst UM loss of all time.

I mean, it's the holy trinity of suck.

But if Manny loses to Pitt and FSU (which is probably happening) he will cement himself as the worst coach in the history of Miami and the worst coach to ever coach any of the Big 3.

Some people give Butch credit for Erickson’s success because he was Jimmy Johnson’s recruiting coordinator. I think it’s pretty stupid, but that’s CIS for you.

Lol...Then why did things fall apart after JJs kids left following 92??...Erickson was a Notoriously Lazy recruiter...Hence the Garbage OL (aside from KC) he left Butch...
