where does Miami rank among these openings in terms of being desirable for candidates? throwing in expectations, "easiness", control, recruiting, facilities, administration help, schedule strength, etc..

LSU
USCw
...Florida maybe in a few weeks?
Washington
Virginia Tech
TCU
Washington State
FIU
Akron

I think we rank right below Washington and right above VT. Not being a mope here but Washington just seems like a homerun gig where expectations are relatively low, schedule, stadium, support, etc are all through the roof. I think we're not in the same tier as USCw and LSU until we get an on-campus stadium but that's just my opinion.

LSU
USC
Miami / Florida
Washington
Virginia Tech / TCU
The Rest

If Mario or Lane comes and finally massively upgrades the S&C and leaves for the NFL, it'll be the job it was back in the day.

Miami and SC are basically the same job, with SC getting the nod due to the stadium…Washington, while I hear what you’re saying, is not on par with the top tier. It’s a P5 gig but that’s about where any similarities end.

With what you listed

LSU
UF (as much as it pains me)
SC
Miami

Agree with your ranking and where Miami is in it.

However, 1. An on campus stadium would not put Miami on the same level as USC and LSU
2. There will not be an on campus stadium.
3. It doesn't matter where the stadium is located, win and Hard Rock is pretty **** close to what the OB was in the day. The ND game in 2017 proved that to me.
4. There will not be an on campus stadium.

#1 choice IF the commitment is there from institution, HC who rebuilds Miami will become a CFB legend.

If for nothing else, the conventional wisdom says its impossible. I want to believe that weighs on Mario's mind.

Very subjective based on how you weigh all the factors.

You can make the playoffs in any power 5 conference if you win all your games. Therefore it is easiest in theory to win a title in either the PAC or the ACC until the committee proves they will keep an undefeated team from one of those conferences out.

I personally want a diverse, culturally rich experience for my family. I would prefer good weather. And I want a strong local recruiting base. There are two jobs on that list that fit the bill, and I would want to keep for the rest of my career.

It isn't as if the other schools are located in the Wasteland from The Dark Tower.

Miami is an anomaly. It’s an enigma that most don’t believe in. Like Sasquatch or aliens.
There are reports and some grainy video but most people don’t believe in it or can’t comprehend how it can actually be real. How many pro bowlers? How many hall of famers? Where? What stadium?

How many schools have won 5 national championships with 3 up and comer coaches that never won anywhere?
How many schools have spent 3rd world gdp money to try and win one while we won 5 without a stadium.
The amount of money Tennessee and Michigan have spent over the past 10 years is ridiculous and what do they have to show for it?

So when someone says a better job you have to put into context what it actually means.

Miami by far is the high risk high reward job. And high risk usually means you better get it right or your fcked. And that’s what’s been happening here.

The closest we came to getting it right was cmr and he won 10 games and had a top ten class in just one year and he wasn’t even getting the best local players.

If the right coach with the right staff recruits a good chunk of the best players down here it would be very difficult to compete against that.

But if the best job means money, facilities boosters and all that then no it’s not.

But Jimmy Johnson won super bowls in what’s considered one of the best and most history ladened jobs in the nfl and he said the best job he ever had was at the university of Miami and every coach that won here has said the same thing.
I’ll believe them before I buy that the huskies are a better job.

I might switch the gaytor and USC. I actually think USC can be better than all of them but LSU is really strong because of recruiting base and resources plus SEC.
