I think Nebraska firing a 9-3 Bellini puts a lot of pressure on the administration to follow suit. I agree with the idea of negotiations being underway. Once they know the financial damage of the buyout they can make their decision. If they fire him in advance of such negotiations they lose their leverage and must agree to the terms already in writing.
 
This administration doesnt give a **** about what Nebraska or other big state football powerhouses do. These people see themselves as cosmopolitan socialites copying up with the UNCs and Dukes of the world. They are focused on finding Shalalas replacement and polishing their US News ranking. They are not feeling much heat that matters because frankly most UM alumni don't even live in SoFla and don't care all that much.

People need to just expect the worst here. We are stuck for another year because of his contract and Shalala retiring. There just will not be sufficient urgency to make a big move for people who really don't care all that much.

Makes sense, may also be giving him a chance to go elsewhere - especially if he's been talking to some other team already (perhaps FIT...that being the Fashion Institute of Technology). I'm expecting...OK hoping that the announcement comes within a week or two....I don't even want him coaching a bowl game against some MAC school.
 
I know we're all down on the admin but they did fire Shannon after a disappointing fourth season. They have been upgrading facilities. They must want to win. Hopefully, they are trying to work out a deal here. There is a lot to consider with the president transition and the buyout but I can't see any upside to dragging this out another year.
 
Whatever the buyout is, if the BOT have any semblance of financial/economic knowledge they will discount and net the current value of the buyout dollars with what the University could earn if we start to play significantly better under a new HC (moderately higher ticket sales, prime time games, merchandising, increased demand from prospective students, etc.).

Someone brought up in another post: How much is letting the football program underperform costing the U... which speaks to the same point.

Bottom line: $4MM or $5MM or whatever is contracted to give this POS is NOT the economic bottom line hit to the school. That's econ 100... or maybe AP Econ.

Finally, the BOT should see the hiring of a great coach as doubling down on S.Fla talent and not the near term financial payout of cutting fat *******.

Bye. You won't be missed. I will be a fan of the U no matter what. We may have some idiots at the helm for a while, but they'll all be gone eventually. The only constant is the U and the fertile recruiting ground it lives in.

I agree should be at least some rumblings of something going on. I think it is quite because nothing is going on there won't even be a statement saying he is staying because there is no thought of getting rid of him

If Golden shows up for the Joe Joe Joe interview tomorrow, that's when we know we can give up on this university.
 
Doubt he shows but that is not uncommon after a loss is it? But it will add to more speculation and hope when he don't show
 
Golden is gone.

They've been spending money to upgrade the program, and this **** is the one holding up progress. It was something no one wanted to believe, but that's the hard reality.

Maybe they're trying to give Golden a graceful exit - maybe just consulting their attorneys and financial folks to minimize long-term damage. Maybe they won't do siht, but I don't believe that for a moment.

This program has gas gangrene, and that, gentlemen, can no longer be ignored.

Pretty sure he always makes the Joe Rose interview. Sometimes he misses the conference call and Hurricane Hotline.
 
Seems like there's absolutely no chatter and it's a foregone conclusion he's back.

Which is insane and truly shows how ******* clueless and apathetic The Board of trustees and ***** Baggins (Shalala) are.

Almost any other school in America, Golden is canned after last offseason.

***** Baggins has been awful for our University.

Bye. I'll see you at the next game though. I'll still be at every game with my pops. In theory, I'll just be downgrading from fanatic (fan) to spectator. Most people don't understand the distinction. It's the first thing you learn when you become a coach.
