Quick update on Punt Returner for those wondering

^^^^ KR was pretty weak last year, and on the very few times we got a decent return the overwhelming amount of time we had some kind of penalty.

I'm somewhat apprehensive having Jeff Thomas as a PR, not that I don't think he can handle the duties and bring some explosiveness but should he get injured that could handcuff the speed we have at WR

Dallas and Harley sound like good picks for returns.

Maybe Thomas will be more dynamic on punt returns than kicks.

It was surprising that he looked so pedestrian on kick returns last year.

He's clearly a difference maker at the WR position, though.

Now now, guys. We need Miller back there returning kicks, because we all know big guys don't fumble.

I would be nervous watching Mike Harley back there returning punts or kickoffs. He seem like he'll fumble all the time. I like Deejay back there. Also think Pope and Bethel should get a chance.

Thomas.

Great wiggle and speed.

Dude Sucked at KR (our blocking was trash as well)...but the two returns require different skillsets. I think he’s a natural at PR.

Todd Hartley just told us his pecking order at PR: Deejay Dallas OR Jeff Thomas OR Mike Harley

Considering only the guys on roster right now...

I love this for PR.

KR needs to be Dallas, Lingard, not sure who else (I'm cool with checking out Frierson there), but I like those two. Bethel and Pope will surely get looks there as well, once they get on campus. Dean would be interesting if he could just get this CB thing nailed down, but until that happens, we can't really put more on his plate. Shoot, forgot Burns, he could be good option at KR (keep the health jokes to yourselves). If Cam Davis doesn't redshirt, he'll be worth checking out on ST too.

I want Deejay on that field on any and every unit where he has the potential to touch the ball. Period. As long as Homer is healthy and being Travis Homer, which means 5-10 carries per game for Deejay, we need to use that guy everywhere we can to get him chances in other ways.

JT just did not cut it there (KR) last year and if he's going to be a starter at WR and top 3 at PR, he doesn't need to be on KR. I agree with others, he probably is more natural to PR than KR. My fear with both he and Harley is the potential for putting the ball on the ground. Flip side of that is learning PR should include a good amount of ball security, which hopefully translates to their game all around.

Basically we're blessed that we've got 5-6 guys with outstanding speed, great hands, and ankle breaking wiggle who would be outstanding stars as PR's.

Our problems at PR has been our lack of blocking, NOT who we have back there.
