Questions For Chip

Chip, who's your favorite Cane and why?

Man this is always a tough question for anybody.... but I'd have to go with

Ken Dorsey

Not only for his dominance, winning the '01 title or almost getting the Heisman he deserved (twice!), but because I could relate to him. A guy who goes to work looking to be the best he can be, is a leader by example and he's a closet nerd like myself. Gotta respect that

Favorite incoming recruit and which one do you think has a chance to have the biggest immediate impact (if any), and which one has the highest ceiling? (In your opinion)

Chip,

What is your prediction for the game this weekend?

Against VA Tech? Well defensively the Hokies are statistically better than FSU, but don't let that automatically force your hand. The Hokie offense is just awful, Logan Thomas (or as I've been calling him, "The Fallible Logan Thomas") is basically a taller and more inconsistent Stephen Morris, the running game is weak and their offensive line is average. But like I said to start, Hokies defense is scary good. Bud Foster is one of the best defensive coordinators in the country. They've forced 17 interceptions this season, Morris has 10. Stephen, as we've been saying the past 4 weeks it seems, MUST be consistent and accountable now more than ever with Duke out for the season. Yes Crawford, Edwards and Clements are all capable but they don't bring the "wow" factor that Duke has. But with all that said and the game being in Miami at 7pm on a Saturday following, what I consider to be one of the more devastating FSU losses in rivalry history, I believe the Canes will respond with a win, but it'll be like the Florida game. Canes win by a TD.

I need to get out to high school football games down here in South Florida to have a better answer, but from what I've read and seen on YouTube, as well as talking with people in the football program; For my favorite incoming recruit I'd go with Braxton Berrios. I've read he could potentially be a Wes Welker clone. He has great speed, excellent agility, and great hands. With Dorsett, Waters and Lewis all in the slot it might be tough for him to get PT right away, but I know when he does hit the field he'll be that thorn in the defenses side because he is a great route runner and smart football player. Best chance for an immediate impact: Travonte Valentine. Curtis Porter, Olsen Pierre, Justin Renfrow are all Seniors and will be graduating. There will be players to fill the gaps, I honestly believe Chickillo might be better off there, but Valentine has the size and explosion to fill the holes. He could see early PT. Highest ceiling: not sure yet. But ask me again once I watch more film of these guys
