Actually my question is simply, why does there seem to be such a disparity between Scout and Rivals in who they rank as 3-4-5 star.

I will use UNC just because it was this example that caught my attention.

Scout has UNC listed as having two 4* commits while Rivals says they have 7 ??

I've noticed that rivals seems much more promiscuous with stars than ESPN. For example, ESPN lists 17 5* players while rivals has 27. For what it's worth, I think 23 is high, I would assume that they get more traffic for giving teams higher ratings. Or something like that, I doubt that they truly disagree on that many players.

Just pay attention to whatever website has us listed the highest. That's what most people do and the next year when that same site has us much lower than another, toss it under the bus.

That's an accurate statement.

Personally, I go with ESPN. They s me to put a bit more thought into team rankings, while rivals just adds up the total number of stars. Ole miss is #1 on rivals, and while they do have a pair of 5* they've also got a ton of 3*. OSU has more quality over all but sits at #3 based largely (I believe) on the fact they've got fewer recruits. During sanctions, USC had a class of like 12 with all 4/5*. How you don't say that's the best class in the nation I don't know, but rivals preferred bigger classes with more stars overall but a lower average. To me the average stars/player is the best stat you can get with stars, past that it's subjective about having met needs.

Go read the rivals article on updating 2017 team rankings. The U is ranked #3 overall and they said "dispite robert burns and gamble being dropped to 3 stars "

Lmaoo u think those 2 would be dropped for a 3 star if they are commited elsewhere lol

And then on espn robert burns is ranked #2 1 player OVERALL and #2 runningback in the country lolol
