aside from Thomas and Harley which, if any, of our receivers has "elite" speed? aside from Ahmmon being a great talent, he also had elite speed. I'm curious if there are any of our guys that's 6 ft or taller with speed close to his currently on the roster?

I legit think Mark Richards can end up at WR if we sign him as an athlete.

But I don’t think anyone on the roster is equivalent to AR82’s height/speed combo.

From the limited bit I watched of Pope this Fall, he's as fast as any of our guys. His acceleration is elite. He's different than Thomas, but a true top flight talent. Hopefully, he's given the opportunities and puts it together. Would like to see him on same side of the field as Thomas.

Do you think he hasn’t played much so far because of his blocking?

I'm not sure Wiggins is in the convo for top speed, but he seems to find separation,..ill take it!! Thats my vote!
I definitely remember reading an article about mark pope and him saying how a lot of people sleep on Wiggins speed and that he's a step behind him.

10 pass plays called on first down against FSU. That was 40% of our first down plays. 2 of those resulted in Perry being sacked. One he scrambled to avoid a sack for a 2 yard gain. A couple were bad throws and a couple of drops. 3 were completed. One of those a 9 yard gain, another for.a.first down and the third for a TD. . No we do not run on first down every play. Seems like it at times because of the low success rate when we do call a pass play on first down

Sad part is Miami’s WR’s are woefully underutilized. In 6 games Miami has completed 88 passes; that’s less than 15 per game (averaging 27 passes/game).

16 - Thomas … 15 - Harley … 15 - Jordan … 12 - Cager … 9 - Langham … 4 - Hightower …2 - Ezzard … 1 - Polendey … 1 - Wiggins … 1 - Mallory … 0 - Pope

- Elijah Moore has caught 11 passes (2 TDs) and Anthony Schwartz has caught 8 (2 TDs). Both true freshman receivers have individually caught more than Ezzard, Wiggins, Mallory, Pope and Hightower - combined! I didn’t include their running plays.

- Ole Miss has completed 131 passes and Auburn has completed 103. (Use that for reference for those visiting the recruiting thread talking about receivers considering Ole Miss or Auburn...)

- every SEC team except TN, AR and KY have completed more passes than Miami; 9 SEC teams have over 100 completions.

- UNC has 82 completions; Duke, Pitt and Miami are tied with 88 completions every other ACC team except GT has more completions with FSU completing 38 more balls than Miami.

But not to worry, the next time you see Miami start a drive with 2 interior run plays for little or no yardage you can feel heartened by Richt’s commitment to establishing the run. And that “best WR room in the country”? That’s where the trophies are kept because the offense isn’t getting them the ball.
I want to see us air it out more too, but it's tough to argue with the results. Auburn 1-2 in conference. Ole Miss 0-2 in conference. I don't think that's where the trophies are kept either...

Maybe it's Harley's stride or just that he's so shifty, or maybe he just hasn't had the ball in open space really but I would like him to house one so we can see that straight line speed come out

Worthless stats. You have to look at each game. We only ran 46 plays against UNC because our defense scored 3 times. We quit throwing the ball when the game was out of hand. Same for other games. We could easily have another 30 -50 passes. I didn't like the play calling but, we threw it 33 times against FSU and 4 TDs with little offense. So, your stats mean jack. What's your point anyway? Our passing game is not a problem. We have our QB, our WRs. Just need some **** blocking and better mix of play calls. The issue isn't the number of throws.
