Has a team ever won a division in a P5 conference and been unranked? I'm guessing not but think the Coastal may pull the feat this year.

The Coastal does it almost every year! Miami did it under Golden when we had to give it up for unranked UNC to take it I believe. The Coastal sucks!
Hey N. Carolina almost beat Clemson that has to count for something.

We beat Pitt last year when they were ranked 24th but they had already wrapped up the coastal

Georgia Tech won the Coastal in 2012—in a three-way tie with Miami and North Carolina (all were 5-3 in conference). Miami self-imposed a post-season ban while North Carolina was on one year post-season probation. The Yellow Jackets fell to Florida State, 21-15 in Charlotte.

Still never got how the whole tiebreaker worked that year for the three teams, if UNC and UM weren't banned. Canes lost to the Tar Heels and had a 7-5 overall record to UNC's 8-4—while both with the same division record. Georgia Tech was 6-6, having lost in OT to Miami, but beating North Carolina.

They "clinched" the Coastal as no one could catch up going into the final season, but still lost the game to fall to 6-2 in conference and 7-5 overall, leaving them unranked going into the conference title game.

Wait, UNC had to give it up to US and we gave it up to GT.
