That ruling by the NLRB doesn't change the NCAA rules that paying players is a violation of the NCAA rules. What is going to happen is Northwestern and NCAA will object to the finding of the NLRB trying to overturn the ruling. Then if that doesn't work this is heading to court if Obama doesn't step in and kill it first since he put the people into the NLRB. The fiver National Labor Relations Board Members are appointed by the President to 5-year terms, with Senate consent, the term of one Member expiring each year.

There is no way this will work out to favor private schools like Miami and USC. If anything it will be used to crush those programs. The entire BCS era has been aimed at the big state schools regaining the control and dominance of college football they had before THE U turned the world upside down. Do you think it is a accident the USC and Miami have been raped by ncaa while the big state schools have gotten kisses and pats on the hands the last 10 years. Reggie Bush/USC against Cam Newton/Alburn -- come on. Newton/alburn arguably a much worse violation caught while kid still in school and what, 20 minute suspension? We had kids loss games for a couple hundred dollars, Cam got part of a day for 180k. Lets not even talk about old Johnnie. Nothing good will come out of this for Miami.

If college players are allowed to be paid a salary, if they have the intent, private schools will dominate. Until there is a salary cap, the richest schools win. No body has more money than schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Notre Dame, Stanford.

This will be tangled up in the court system for so long time it will have no impact for the foreseeable future.

Throw USC in their and I'm with you. Miami would only benefit from this if every player can only get a set amount from the school, maybe $2,000 a month. I personally think Miami & USC would play for about about half of the national championships if this were to happen. We would get every 5 star player in Florida.

Just to be clear, as I'm sure you already understand this, the NCAA can't overturn an NLRB decision directly. They have not authority to do so. They can go to court to contest the definition of amateurism, etc., or they could surprise everyone by agreeing with the NLRB and trying to get ahead of any changes that might come. My guess is that whatever happens, it will take some time to work itself out.

NCAA will kill this....

Exactly! Look at the State of Florida on the academic side. Artificially low tuition coupled with easy to get "Bright Scholar" 'ships means UM is at a disadvantage in its own state. I laugh at people who complain about the academics focus and rigor of Miami. Remember, there is no Hurricane football, baseball, and basketball without the UNIVERSITY of Miami. You can't sell a 50K+ year school to parents unless you are providing their pride and joy with a MUCH BETTER education. Because a parent's value quotient is so skewed in Florida, over 50% of UMs undergrads are FROM OUT OF STATE!

Furthermore, the state institutions will deal with their respective state's public employee labor boards, only the private schools will have to deal with the NLRB. Do you really think the State Employee Relations Board of Ohio, for example, whose members are appointed by RINO OSUck grad Kasich, will rule against OSUck? Your dreaming...

As usual, the four letter's pundits are embracing it; they know that as long as they keep the conversation away from their misdeeds, they can keep making money.

i couldnt catch all of the interview but he said something along the lines that only private schools would be able to pay and would be a huge boost to USC, and UM

It's Cowherd, always looking for a USC angle. Great if your ND or USC, not so good if your BC, Wake Forest, and UM, who don't have piles of cash to play players, provide workman's comp, etc.
