Clemson goes undefeated.

F$U goes 11-1 and beats us.

UM goes 11-2 with the loss to F$U.

F$U beats Clemson in the ACC-CG.

The ACC could get 3 teams into the playoffs with 1 loss apiece.

Obviously, it's highly unlikely to happen. But outside of the Clemson-UGa game and F$U-ND, none of us are playing really tough slates.

no, why the **** would we lose to DJ Ukelele and FSpoo...and why would we lose to Clemson when we beat them with Emory.

You could have presented so many different scenarios where the 3 teams get into the playoffs yet you decided to go with Clemson going undefeated, FSU beating us and winning the ACC, and Miami being the 11-2 team.

Miami would be 11-1. You are now the second person who can't understand that Miami doesn't play Clemson in 2024, and would only play in the ACC-CG if we were the top 2 teams (and in my scenario, F$U would have the head-to-head tiebreaker over Miami).

I guess it was too early in the morning to post this, some of you don't get it.

You've got Gator fans waxing poetic about how they would get into the playoffs with 4 losses, and I'm just putting forth the most likely outcome where the ACC could get 3 teams in.

It’s possible. It’s really going to depend on how the rest our schedule plays out. It could end up that FSU is the only ranked opponent we play and a loss to them could kill a playoff bid. Especially if we didn’t even make the conference championship game. Or we could destroy the rest of the schedule including surprisingly good UL and VT teams and somehow get an invite.

I mean this is all just playing Devil’s Advocate because we’re not going to lose to FSU.

Relax man, was just a joke.

If you change us with FSU in your scenario, it's a whole lot more accurate.

Oh, and we go 12-0.

I haven't been to the conference thread for ages, so have no idea if the ACC will even exist after this season. But as I said when they joined us, I think you've got to start taking SMU seriously, too. They are throwing big money at football and have the booster base to keep throwing it. Not sure what happened to Papa John's University, their NIL situation, and why we ended up with Baron. But Louisville is another one, with Brohm as a talented HC, who will build that program up. And Va Tech seems to be on the rebound and is our sleeper trap game this year, IMO.

So I have my eyes on Miami, FSU, Clemson, SMU, Louisville, Va Tech as all having a commitment to football and being good to great teams this year. UNC, NC State aren't jokes, either. The conference has the nucleus to be good. They just need to prove it. Go beat some SEC and BIG teams in nonconference games, then talk trash. Starts with Miami v UF in 4 weeks.

I agree with you.

From an analytical standpoint, I was following the pre-season "consensus" on F$U/Clemson being the top two teams, and Miami being the third team in the ACC.

From a Miami-fan standpoint, I'd prefer Miami to be undefeated, and then play the winner of F$U-Clemson in the ACC-CG. In that case, it would be nice to play Clemson to avoid the "rematch" angle. But that would be a way to get three 1-loss ACC teams to the playoffs.

And, yes, you are correct, Clemson could argue "but we beat UGa" and F$U could argue "but we beat ND". Then Miami would have to say "but we beat those Clemson and F$U", since we aren't going to get credit for "banging a three" (Florida).
