Preparation

Not sure I agree, dog. We’ve looked really bad against equally inept teams in the past.
In the past this would have been a convincing 35-14 type of win. We outright smashed them and then took the foot off the accelerator in the 4th. The other thing that got lost in the shuffle about it being a bye week was that our offense did come out flat. We looked like trash on offense the first 2 possessions and the 3rd one was looking more of the same until King hit Harley on that crossing route. As stated this is how we should always look like against 80% of our schedule.

Don’t see any threads on it, but

We looked prepared for the duke game. Now granted Duke was a struggling team, but completely dismantled them.

The last time I saw this was ND 17.

It seemed like every player just discovered adderal. Kids were focused, communication was on point, and execution was there.

Carter, Hall, Jennings were entirely new players.

Why did it take this long to see this type of performance?
What changed during the layoff?
And can we repeat this performance sooner then another 3 years?

Other tidbits:

Guys like Flagg, TAC, and Steed jump off the screen.

Steed over McCloud/Brooks all day. Not even a debate.

Clarke and Dubson provide and athletic level at DB we haven’t had in a while.
It’s definitely a debate between Steed and Brooks. McCloud, no, but Brooks flashes as much or more than Steed did this past game.

Completely agree, and now a lot of those same people are saying, "yea, it was a blow out, but it was Duke"...............I am not quite sure what truly needs to be done in order to satisfy any of these guys.
We could blow out Bama and they’d find something to ***** about.

You're forgetting someone - Keontra Smith.

Check out this 2-play sequence. Smith has obvious talent as a run-and-hit athlete but has struggled with play recognition, reaction time, angles, etc most of the year. Here he's alert to the zone read, slips the block from the RT outside and closes hard to put his shoulder on the QB. Then he's the flat defender in a 3-deep zone pressure and snaps to react to the back on the flat route and hit him outside his frame just after the ball arrived. You can see his brain working rapidfire as he sees #2 release inside, looks to #1 going vertical then immediately closes on the back.

You can find plays like that in these highlights from a bunch of guys including Bolden, Jennings, Steed, Phillips and Harvey.

I cant tell anything from this game, I havent watched Duke play this season but was surprised at how bad they were, lol.. They were never beast but they fell off from what little progress they have made..

Lucky for us we play a real offense which will show us whats real.. Any preparation proclamation can be made saturday, huge challenge.. This was a calendar circled game for the players since the schedule came out, no excuse of overlooked or anything like that, we will see

Um there is a debate, u say duke is terrible thats y we dismantled them! Then go on 2 say that steed ova brooks all day! Mccloud i agree with, but a healthy brooks is hard f4 me to agree with.

just some perspective—the last time Duke was shutout was in October 4, 2008 against GT. Since then, Duke has played against Clemson, Alabama and several other ranked opponents, but were never shut out. Duke scored 13 points on ND earlier this season.
Shutouts are rare in college football. Clemson, and Ohio State have no shutouts this season, Alabama has shutouts against Mercer and Miss State, and ND has a shutout against a hapless USF team

We basically played a A little league team disguised as Duke. They’re beyond trash. It was a tuneup game. UNC is a real test.
"We basically played a little league team disguised as UAB. They're beyond trash. It was a tuneup game. Louisville is a real test." - 90% of CIS

We're in week 15. Anyone needing MORE proof of what this team is about is a fúcking imbecile.

Facts:
- We are 8-1 and ranked in the top 10.
- There are only SIX P5 teams with a better win % and three of those teams have played 5 games or fewer (USC, osu and Colorado).
- The bye week curse has been defeated. Twice this season we have won off of a layoff.
- We have dominated the 4th quarter of every game this season. This shows that this team has found what it takes to win games...and no it's not just D'Eriq King. The defense has allowed an average of 3.4 points in the 4th quarter this season...this despite playing in five games decided by one score. Last season we were 2-5 in those games.

Anyone who hasn't thoroughly enjoyed watching this team and is still waiting for the season to collapse so they can say they told us so is a fúcking miserable person.

Opinions on the young DTS like Holley roberts Blissett are they being developed? Is their any growth since the beginning?
