They kill us. Why is it so hard to prevent them?
Mirabal is supposed to be an OL genius. Shouldn't a coach be able to teach his guys to stay disciplined?

And while we're on the topic, CiCi destroyed our first drive with a ridiculously dumb unsportsmanlike penalty that backed us up near our own goal line.

Once teams on film saw we just caveman stupid with not knowing our own snap count, even the center has multiple false starts and he is snaping the ball! We dont know snap count, EVERY TEAM rest of season will shift prior to snap and get false starts from us.. We fall for it every game and best part is most times AT HOME..

And our offense is neutered so it doesnt have Cam or confidence to overcome penalties like last year..

I'm no OL expert, but presnap penalties were mainly caused by the 2 things:

1. Faulty communication
2. Lineman trying to get an advantage on the snap anticipating the rush

Louisville's DL kept them off balance with their speed & timing pressure.

They rushed a lot from the Wide 9 in both the weakside & strongside D gaps which pulled the Tackles out farther, forcing the interior lineman to have to Ace block both laterally & vertically.

Which is why you saw Beck mostly climbing the pocket but then immediately getting stopped either at the LOS or just a step or two in front of it.

They funneled him into the middle of the field on purpose, instead of flushing him outside. They had their LB's sitting in the Hook & Hole zones in order to eliminate drag routes, also giving them eyes on the QB.

They were false starting a lot because LVille was mostly speed rushing as opposed to bull rushing.

There are some Porsters that will die on the hill and tell you its the Defense moving illegally....Its never the OLs fault. Even though the OL did it all last year too.

How do you shift illegally on defense unless entering neutral zone when shifting. Defense has always been allowed to shift

There are pre-snap penalties in the NFL. Why are people so quick to pin everything on some position coach? You don't think they emphasize those basics in practice?

Exactly. You want Mario to bench CiCi? Of course not. He killed that first drive and then we go down 14-0.... basically changes our entire game plan for the rest of the game.

I repeat this often. Perhaps we may struggle with a bit more of it, in part, because our OL are trying to jump into their IZ, etc., so often. We also suffered yesterday at least once or twice from Louisville’s DL stemming. All that said, there is no way you can formulate a plan where you’re consistently perfectly on schedule.

An elite offensive line referred to as possibly the best in the nation cant make mistakes like this especially at home, against a worthy opponent coming off a bye week.
