Now that we know Rashad Fenton has been given a commitable offer (via Josh Darrow), hopefully he decides to take his last visit to UM instead of Auburn and L-Ville. Our current DB class is JaQuan Johnson, Michael Jackson and Robert Knowles. So the question I have is what are your top DB's that you would like to see join the class and who would be your back-ups? My top is pretty obvious with Marcus Lewis and then Fenton. I honestly just want to learn a bit more about some of the players that are still out there regardless of whether they are legit options for UM.

I know Vern is not big on Knowles but he's the only one I've heard saying anything negative about him. As for JJ, Fenton & Lewis, I believe that's a **** good class of DB's.

i would give a DB haul of Johnson, Knowles, Jackson, Lewis, and Fenton a solid A-. would be an A+ with Irvin.

Well ****........ if Vern isn't high on him, he must not be very good. :impurethoughts:

Vern just said kid looks like Tarzan but plays like Jane. I'm over a 1,000 miles away so other highlights I have no idea what this kid looks like. I thought he looked great in his HL's though.

Valid if I may ask?

How would you have rated if Miami were to get SBB, Tarvarus, Carlton or D. Davis or a combination of some of those along with Irvin?

I consider if Marcus Lewis comes, as taking the spot that was for Tyrek Cole.

I would like a DB class of Jackson, Lewis and Fenton at corner and Jaquan and Knowles at safety. No doubt.

BUT... SBB, Irvin, and Carlton were kids who "should" have been at Miami.

Cole that situation got bad and was not an option anymore. Miami didn't actively pursue Tarvarus. The staff didn't seem high on Kendrell.

Davante Davis remains to be seen.

I like the potential DB class but I think more of a B than a A-

A+

Having said that....given our current circumstances (coach on the hot seat, 6-7 season, angry fans, etc) the group we can still potentially close with is impressive.

I didn't lose any sleep on Tavarus because we were never going to get him...he didn't like Miami. I always thought SBB and Carlton were overrated and i'm not just saying that because they went elsewhere (fwiw SBB has plummeted in the rankings recently so I''m not the only one). Davante on the other hand gonna be in the NFL. huge loss there, but getting Lewis will help ease the pain.

I can agree with except on SBB. Always been impressed by him since I saw him during his junior year.

I am not super high on Carlton actually so I can share the same feelings there with you. I do think he is good though.

That's why I like recruiting cause everyone always has a different view and I like to hear others evals or opinions. As I have spoken with some who have a different opinion about Carlton.

Just as I feel Fenton is Dades best corner.

I don't understand what the staff is thinking. We're going to be dangerously thin at corner if Artie has a good year & leaves early for the NFL. That would only leave us with Elder & Michael Jackson if we don't land Marcus Lewis &/or someone else. That will send us chasing after a JUCO corner next recruiting class to play a lot or start right away. Could send us back to the days where we start a bad transfer player (Wake Forest's Mike Williams) or a safety (JoJo Nicolas) out of position. We're going after too many olineman & not enough corners.
