QB: B+
It wasn’t perfect but Beck made some big time throws and had no turnovers

RB: B
They were solid but nothing flashy. I think this group was handicapped at times by predictable play calling. Not every run needs to be up the gut, Dawson!

WR: A-
The catch by Daniels was spectacular. Toney looks like an emerging star. Marion looked better than I expected. Trader didn’t have a catch if made some big time blocks. Moore struggled a bit, but overall hard to ask for much more against a top secondary

TE: B-
Hard to grade this unit. Lofton had a nice catch but didn’t see much of him beyond that. Was a bit surprised he wasn’t used more. Baumann had a bad blown block early in the game

OL: B
Beck got pressured a little more than I would’ve liked but ND does have elite DEs. The right side of the line was very good but there were times when the left side struggled. Still did a solid job overall

DL: A
Bain and mesidor wrecked havoc all night. Scott, Blay, and Moten all had great moments as well. We contained Love to just 10 Carries for 33. This unit looked elite tonight!

LB: B
This group was on their way to looking great until Toure’s poor coverage lead to that busted play. Still solid and improved overall

DB: B
I thought they did a solid job. Hardly heard Lucas’ name all night which is a good thing. Scott looked good. OJ was fine but a bit concerning he couldn’t knock down that 50/50 ball

Safety: C-
Maybe this is harsh but this group looks to be our weak spot. Poor tackling, fell asleep on that first TD, and some blown assignments

Special teams: B
Solid returns and a clutch 47 yard field goal. Only knocked down due to the botched snap to start the game

I edited to a B. I realized that was a bit too harsh
A B is still harsh.

They didn't commit penalties (maybe one holding and one procedure) and everyone and their grandmother's knew where the ball was going and they still had a strong running game. They basically did not allow us to not lose. Dawson's play calling was a direct result of them basically telling the world "put this game on our back, we got this" and it showed.

Damari Brown not getting any credit for the interception he caused. He sniffed out that wide receiver screen and was sitting in the receivers lap and caused the deflection. Bain got the stat but Brown made it happen. Most underrated defensive play of the night.

I would also say about the OL. I felt like Beck's was going with too short of a drop. A bunch of times the OL had a perfect horseshoe pocket but Beck was already high in it. No chance to step into the throws. Led to several backfooted throws that can be dangerous. Including the one that Daniels snagged from being an interception. Put one more step on the drop and that pocket looks perfect.
