I have been reading a few articles on coaches perspectives on certain players having potential but needing the proper motivation. I am honestly getting tired of hearing that. Do our players not come to the U to be great? Kids go to Bama, believing that. They go to OSU believing that. They are going to Clemson believing that. It just seems like we have too many guys who have potential but constantly need re-direction and reinforcement.

Bro..they are kids still..think about the mentality you had out of HS..that’s where they are. Plus most of them got by in HS and b4 then on natural gifts alone. So yes they need to be pushed in the right direction and put on the right path..majority of professional athletes need the same

No you're absolutely right. They're some of the very few people on earth who have a realistic chance of going pro and making millions, and even that doesn't motivate them to stay focused or out of trouble for 3 years.

In the practice videos posted today, the offensive linemen are getting yelled at because they aren't going full speed. Guarantee that wouldn't fly in the Miami of old, or at Alabama/Clemson.

I think a major part of it is talent evaluation. Not recruiting or bringing in the right players for the past decade and not having good coaches. There has been ZERO accountability at Miami for a long time, and coaches like Dan Enos are who we need to change that.

They absolutely come to Miami to be great. The problem is that most people either don't understand what's required or aren't willing to give it. They want to be great and they assume they can keep practicing the way they have and it will just happen. Turns out other people want to be great and practice real hard too.

Either being great means everything to you, or you'll never be great.

Agreed. I think mediocrity was allowed to skip in and that practices weren’t taken nearly with the same amount of intensity and focus needed to perform well on game days. Now they’re being held to a standard that’s not a low bar but one to excel, improve, and stretch for goals wise. It’s about time the kids were held accountable and shown what it takes for greatness. It’s not just God given talent.

It’s about identifying kids with the right mentality in the recruiting process and recruiting mentally strong kids

The schools u mention generally get whatever players they want. They want those players for a reason. We don’t get whatever players we want.

Used to be Us getting these types of kids in droves. Firmly believe it can happen again and soon.

It's the difference in a kid who plays football & a kid who LIVES football...

Enos said that he "wants the intensity of game day at Each practice".....
He does not see coasting on talent as an option.

Do you remember last week the thread about practice how we told yall how soft this is compared to what we were used to in our prime...

As you would know the old school canes were just built different than these kids today... Need to bring the standard back
I try and explain that to my nephew everyday. I just cant wait till the same intensity he takes on the field he brings to his day to day. They all need to get out they head the whole that man is my boy concept. Fvck that. Anyone that lines up against you on the other side of the ball is your personal nut rag play in and play out. When the downs over yall can be good till the next snap. I cant wait. Was talking with dugans & rumph about that the other day. When he gets that in his head watch the fvck out. People can say whatever for the rest but that mentality is all I need to see and besides himself I'm his harshest critic. Moms too.

Some of these guys are also used to dominating without putting in max effort and then they get to college and all of a sudden you are around a lot of guys with similar talent. Need to get back to the idea of outworking everybody!
