This is likely to be a trend.

I have no doubt several more teams will follow suit.

I think it’s going to be hard to get the players back in together for anything other than a playoff game, and maybe just a handful of major bowls.

Teams who’ve already been through it should be ok. Chances are lower since so many kids have already had it.

I don’t think it’s about that. Just a hunch on my part, I just get the sense that a lot of guys, even coaches, just want the season to be over for whatever reason.

Because they've been under heavy restrictions for four months and they're exhausted.

If they're not playing for anything i.e. a title or a NY6 Bowl Game they're done.

I am too old now, but if I was a football player, I would want to play. What else are you going to do, besides you have
the next three, four, five months to recover. Most of these games will be done by the end of December if not sooner.
Play or sit in the dorm, that is basically the choice. Your more likely going to catch the virus hanging out around your home.

Bowl games are meant to be great experiences for the kids, fans like me have an excuse to travel and check out the area, and some cherry on top of a season to get a Win over an irregular opponent than their use too...

I agree though nothing exciting for anyone involved if you get assigned a crap bowl game like in El Paso or Idaho

One issue Coach Richt brought up this morning was that teams have already lost of lot of money this year. Going to a minor bowl with a low pay out will cost them even more.
I do agree that many players have probably had enough and would just like to go home.

I don’t get why teams wouldn’t take any chance they get to generate more revenue

these teams that opt out better never complain about needing money

Love how some teams are opting out like Pitt but LSU gave themselves a "1 year self imposed bowl ban" while having a terrible year to avoid further sanctions. Playing the NCAA like a fiddle LOL

Since this year doesn’t count, I’m assuming the ban takes place next year right?

Of course not unless it were the U and they would tack on an additional 4 years
