Pitt Game 1

Pitt comes into the series at 19-14 (8-10 ACC). They are coming off a midweek loss to Kent State. Pitt has won their last three ACC series including last weekend against a Georgia Tech team that swept us.

Pitt has a 1-5 record in ACC series openers. We have a 3-3 record in Friday night conference games. We have not won an ACC series so far this season in which we have dropped the opener. We need a much better outing from Jeb than he has given us the last few weeks.

Tonight's starter for Pitt is 2-2 with 9.67 ERA, but only allowed 3 runs in 7 innings of work while striking out 6 last weekend against Georgia Tech.

The Canes lead the all-time series 14-1. Pitt has never won at the Light so there's a decent chance another opponent will erase a "never has beaten us..." this weekend.

Runners on base almost every inning, but no hitting tonight (against a kid who has given up a lot of runs). Just when you're starting to feel a little hopeful about the offense after the last handful of games they have a stinker. Hopefully we still win the series and keep some momentum...

Only 3 hits on the night. Horrible outing at the plate. This team teases us with their performance at Clemson looking like the bats have come around, then boom, bam, Nothin'!!!

Let's see if they can recover tomorrow. Need a sweep,. Otherwise, the season is basically over.

Incredibly poor at the plate. Our only run was gifted to us. No margin for error left heading into tomorrow’s doubleheader.
