Phil Sreele's most improved team 2015 Miami. 2014 TCU

7-5 is the worst we do this year...........I'm going 8-4.

I'm gonna say 8-4 at a minimum.

Why can't they go 10-2, or 9-3? Explain why this year is different than last, other than losing a ton of talent to the NFL that was wasted here last year.

I only see FSU and Clemson as teams with just as good or better talent on the schedule. Possibly Nebraska. That's about it. We have already beaten everyone else in recent years.

We could possibly go 10-2 or 9-3. This year is different. In fact every year is different than the last. Many variables change from one year to the next.

Coaching is on the hot seat this year. Golden said he doesn't feel pressured. Don't believe it. He will coach more aggressive. The players still have pride (and talent). They are largely being snubbed. They will play with more chippiness. I definitely think there is this "us against the world" bunker mentality being cultivated which can work to the team's benefit to unify them.

Defense will be key this year. We, overall, have more horses on the dline and depth and experience in the secondary. This will allow more press coverage as we will be attacking the qb more up front. (My opinion, no insider knowledge).

On offense we have a stud qb who is smart and will still have an ****nal of weapons to spread the ball around to.

I could be totally wrong. But I don't think I am.

This. The coaching staff will, dare I say it, adjust to keep their jobs.

If Al Golden does stay I want upper-echelon offensive and defensive coordinators in 2016. Make Coley the QB coach/director of recruiting and to h*ll with DNo. Greg Schiano or Mark Stoops as the DC and someone who is going to able to use this speed on offense the right way.

Sschiano or stoops as a coordinator? ????? You're high dude, lay off of the sauce. My god some of you guys are funny. When has Miami ever paid top dollar for assistant coaches?

Most people don't know TCU's explosion in 2014 coincided with Patterson's realization that he needed an overhaul of his offensive system.

In 2013, TCU's offense ranked 107th in the country. Patterson was always a defensive specialist, but after moving into a power conference, he realized his slow-paced, play action driven offense wouldn't cut it if they wanted to compete. He fired his offensive coordinator and brought in Sonny Cumbie and Doug Meacham to install the air raid.

He assessed his program and was honest with himself: they could not compete - on the field or on the recruiting trail - running an out-dated offense. He hired two specialists of the spread, uptempo offense and completely relinquished control. He let them take over and transform the offense he'd been using for years. The result was a 12-1 record, guided by the #2 scoring offense in the country, led by a QB that played receiver in 2013.

A coach as stubborn and inept as Al Golden is incapable of overhauling a system like that. Golden isn't bright enough or flexible enough to evaluate his program or himself in this matter. A great football mind like Patterson is able to honestly assess himself and his team's flaws. In Golden's mind, poor performance is always a result of a player's lack of execution, or lack of talent. On the other hand, Patterson abandoned the offense he's used for years and realized he couldn't compete on the big stage with it. You will not see any sweeping changes in philosophy or personnel like this under Golden.

That is how Patterson turned TCU into an animal. He did something Golden is mentally incapable of doing. He identified flaws and adapted. Do you see any changes like this inside Golden's program?

The only difference between the 2014 Hurricanes and the 2015 version is that 7-9 of last year's starters are now wearing NFL jerseys. Good luck on that improvement.

Was 2014 TCU the first time Steele did his "biggest turnaround" prediction? It's the only one that Folden's Feggits ever discuss. I wonder why they never bring up any of his other "biggest turnaround" predictions.

I can definitely see the parallel between UM and TCU though. Gary Patterson was a horrific coach who never achieved anything prior to 2014 just like Folden. TCU made no changes to its offense or defense in 2014, and neither did UM this year. Same situation.

I said I wanted upper echelon coordinators and then listed some interesting names, not who I think the school would hire. Barring Golden's stay, drastic times may cause for drastic measures and if Golden, the AD, boosters, etc. are not satisfied with the team after this season then those types of hires COULD be made.

You don't do your research. Patterson was 47-5 during 2008-2011 and is 132-45 overall since becoming the HC in 2001, far from horrific. When TCU joined the Big 12 is when they struggled. In 2014 he hired Doug Meacham and Sonny Cumbie as co-offensive coordinators and they helped build a more spread-like offense that averaged 542 yards and 47 points per game in 2014 compared to their 2013's 345 yards and 21.8 points per game and 2012's 389 yards and 28.3 points per game.

As far as your initial question, Steele predicted Marshall(10-4 in 2012) to improve and they went 13-1 in 2013, Southern Mississippi(0-12 in 2012) and they went 1-11 in 2013 LOL, Indiana(4-8) and they went 5-7 in 2012. He's got a pretty decent track record nonetheless.

What a dope. I even dumbed down the sarcasm to the point where a mongoloid could get it.

And LOL at the dude claiming victories for Steele's cosmic powers by pointing to teams like Southern Mess that went from 0-12 to 1-11. Steele went for the slam dunk knowing you can't get any worse that 0-12, and he still failed.

You have a valid point here. As much as it might go against everything JoePa taught him, maybe he does let the D be more aggressive out of desperation.

So basically you guys are saying things will be different because, well, this is a different year. And we'll win more than last year because Al has to? That seems to be the gist of it. Oh, and our talent level equals automatic wins vs less talented teams, right?
