I retired early from college teaching after 25 years because the products of the US school systems and the current parenting paradigm are largely semi-literate, self-absorbed dim wits with the attention span of a gnat and the interpesonal skills of a can of Spam. Was able to only cover 60% of what I was able to teach two decades ago. But none of the persons you mentioned pined to be a barista or work at Sunglass Hut.
