STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Penn State will be eligible for the postseason this year and will have all its scholarships returned next year, after the NCAA agreed Monday afternoon to again reduce sanctions stemming from the Jerry Sandusky child *** abuse scandal.

Penn State's athletics integrity monitor, former Sen. George Mitchell, recommended both actions in his second annual report that gauges progress made by the university. Minutes after the report was announced, the NCAA said it would follow both recommendations immediately.

The NCAA's decision cleared the way for coach James Franklin and Penn State to target a bowl game this season.
"Penn State has made remarkable progress over the past year," said South Carolina president Harris Pastides, a member of the NCAA's board of directors. "The board members and I believe the executive committee's decision is the right one. It allows both the university and the association to continue to move toward a common goal of ensuring that educating, nurturing and protecting young people is a top priority."

This is so Much BS...good behavior?? But we got nothing but thanks for banning yourself from bowl games, now here's a scholarship reduction.... ****** pitiful...wonder how Golden and Co. Feel about that.... This NCAA is a disgrace and should be ashamed....

those bowl bans probably saved miami's *** from a higher penalty. i like the decision to take away the bowl bans. none of these players were with penn state. keep it as a criminal issue against those that WERE involved.

Proud of the way Miami faced the music and cleaned it up by themselves.

PSU went screaming and clawing the whole way but still got off.

Which school looks better in the long run?

Miami: Showed other colleges how to kick NCAA's @ss with class.

PSU: Stained and mocked for all eternity.

+1

That was a criminal issue... I don't think anyone currently associated with that institution had anything to do with that mess... It was sickening but the perpetrators are now disassociated from that institution... The were the closest institution to receiving a death penalty...

thats a great way to describe sanduskys *** hole while in prison. hope he is getting long pipes nightly....sick son of a *****

They should've never faced any sanctions. Quite simply, it wasn't in their purview to do anything. Especially considering they haven't seemed able to fairly police the things they are supposed to police: academic misconduct, recruiting, rules violations, etc..

So when an asst head coach goes to the head coach and says that he saw a kid being raped by the DC ...... and the head coach does NOTHING but make one phone call - remember THIS head coach was more powerful that anyone else on campus ---- maybe the State. Joe worried more about his reputation than the kids - Joe is the catholic church and when history looks back on Paterno, that statue will come down. Signed a Father

Golden is losing sleep tonight wondering why he didn't get offered the job. What could have been for him and Doritos. So close yet so far.

I hope to God we play them one day. I live in northeast Pa they are the most idiotic fans ever. They havent won a nat'l title in 28 years & act like Bama. Im so ******* ****ed they were lifted.

If you are going to sanction them, then sanction them. Don't change your mind. The NCAA makes itself look weaker and more foolish each day.
