Pass Protection

I’ve said it a few times recently, the pass protection for this team is absurd, and when you have an accurate quarterback, this is a literal cheat code. Every rule is geared towards promoting passing offense. If you can protect your QB, you can completely shred defenses.

But look at this. This is JARRING. Look at the difference between 1 to 2, and then 2 through the rest. I have to think this is a historic number. We’ve been relatively balanced this year so I’m not going to go insane and suggest we’re Navy or something, but since game 1 it’s been evident we’re not nearly as good in short yardage running the ball as we were last year. And your QB is getting this kind of protection. How are you not leaning HEAVY into the throw game? I cannot believe this number.

truly ELITE!!!!

The left side of the line has their moments (not in a good way), but the unit has been solid this year. Would love to see what they could do in the playoffs…

This is misleading. We throw a large number of screens and short passes. We throw very few deep passes.
Says 3 step drops on graphics.. I would assume they take those out..

Beck has plenty of protection, but when there’s a breakdown he freaks out. Little better lately & also shown more willingness to use his legs.
Hate when beck runs, he doesn't look up to throw.. guys be wide open and his 3 yards not gonna hurt.. but I guess the way he got injured he rather just run and get what he can

I saw that, but it doesn't change any of what I said.

He’s played as advertised & our guy. Just scary when he feels pressure & lets it fly.

I feel like he’s played well enough to win in 10 of the 11 games. And a couple of those (FSU, VT) he was the main reason we won.

9 picks, and 4 of those in one game. 2 against USF on fluky plays. One against SMU on an insanely bad break.

But I was blown away by that number. That’s #1 in the country by a massive, massive margin. He’s only been sacked more than once in a single game all year. Zero sacks in 5 games (one against Bethune). And it’s not like he’s Randall Cunningham avoiding all sorts of defenders. That’s just best in the country pass pro. There was a guy on here the other day telling me the LG/C combo was the worst in the country. The country! 136 outta 136 LMAOOOOOO. I love our fans.

One thing for sure, this game will say a lot about who and what Carson Beck is.

He has looked really good lately, seems like he is now comfortable and confident in this offense. He is the product of his OLine and OC and both have been clicking for him.

Let’s see if he can rise up if and when things get tough on the road versus and strong Pitt defense. Will he crack or steer the ship. No three and outs and the defense will respond. It’s important not to rely heavily on the defense this week.

Complimentary football and it’s on Beck.
