There was one call that was made (personnel & scheme wise) in the 4th Quarter that pretty much cost us the game. On the Hammond big play in the 4th we had a single high safety (Carter for some reason instead of Hall) and he lined up on the far hash to the single receiver side of the field. In film study & game prep uf when passing, goes to the multi-set side of the formation 85% of the time. Gil forced Hammond to release inside RIGHT TO WHERE THE SAFETY SHOULD HAVE BEEN STANDING. Meanwhile G Hall (from my angle in the stands) looked like he was spying the QB. Obviously there were plenty of other things that need to be addressed, but that play (from a schematic standpoint) really stood out to me.

Carter was supposed to be over top. Don't know what he was thinking. But that play didn't cause them to lose.

Please allow me to take advantage of someone observant and was there sober and an expert at the game... did you notice if the secondary receivers were often getting open but just not found (due to lack of time or reads?) or were the guys blanketed all night so that even Brady would have had impossibleissues (with this OL) Thank you.

It looked like play design & call, because I don’t think Carter would be expected to run all the way over to the far hash to be over the top help for Gilbert. I knew the tendencies of Franks because I was looking at player notes prior to the game. That number stood out to me because it seemed shockingly high, so when Carter lined up to the single receiver side I was like WTF.

Exactly, not enough time to get them the ball down the field due to that pressure. Maybe he could have on a few plays but he was under duress all game long. Won’t see a defense like that for the rest of the year

You're right. That single play wasn't the game. Reverse any one of the mistakes and we likely win.

But that one came late in the game, ion the middle of the forth quarter and lead to the go ahead score.

I frankly thought that Franks gifted the game back to us when he threw that interception on the first play of their next drive. I was in disbelief after the ensuing 30 yards of penalties drove us back across mid field.

Wasn’t the only poor play call.

We called 2 corner blitzes they were the 2 easiest completions Franks had all game..

Franks scouting report said he was flustered by pressure up the middle not the edges.

The thing is that the way the defense was playing both times the calls were unnecessary and both throws were at crucial times in the game.

Single high was fine. Carter just forgot his key or saw something else that led him to line up away from where the play went. Let's not forget they couldnt run the ball which is the main reason you go single high. Mission accomplished in terms of making them one dimensional.

I don't get it. I thought Manny said in a post game interview Gilbert was supposed to have safety help. Also, on the television replay, Gilbert was lined up close to the line of scrimmage across from Hammond and was beat right off the snap. They expected him to cover Hammond deep with that alignment?

This is just our defense. All defenses allow plays from time to time. When we do, it's usually because of things like corner blitzes. We didn't do it a ton, but we're not going to stop doing it altogether. Later in the game we dropped back into coverage much more.

Doesn’t make sense to vacate an area of the field when you have a QB that is not seeing anything.

Especially if the blitz is tipped off and especially if it’s coming from the wide side of the field.
