Alot of threads on here since Saturday night about who is to blame, short falls, pit falls, and positive takeaways from Week 0. All threads had degrees of truth and for fanatic I felt exactly the same... one takeaway that was mentioned but I wanted to highlight from personal experience.. i live in the northeast on long island and I had a watch party for the game.. my buddies up here don't watch every canes game but only the marquee ones, in particular LSU (2018), Wisconsin (2018) from last season. After the slop feast that was week zero every person to a man said.. "boys balled", "Jarren is a tough mother ******", "boys fought"...no body has said anything to me about a tough canes team in years

being close to the day to day makes an L like Saturday hurt the most..the flaws become glaring, the execution frustrating.. but just maybe that outsider perspective can provide some insight on where we are heading... perhaps the quit is gone... perhaps the leadership is developing... perhaps we are close

in the end, **** the gators... **** tobacco road... lets dump these mothers ****ers...lets kick some mother ****** ***

I was out on Shelter Island and lost power, had to find a bar to watch the game...thanks for the invite.;)

They left everything on the field, which is all you can ask for in terms of effort. The problem is, they also left several plays on the field. It got to a point where we looked like we were trying not to lose, instead of trying to win by putting them away in the third/early 4th quarter. We had all of the momentum, but we started to show our youth with missed assignments, mental errors, and lack of savagery.

We are a good team that lost against our rivals. A great team would have put them away when we had the chance. I believe we will get there. As hurt as I was, I went into Sunday morning feeling great about our effort, future, and to be specific, I feel great about this season.

Manny's main talking point has been about dealing with adversity when it comes. I think they did a good job of digging deep and competing. Too many mental errors, tackles were physically overmatched but they were all giving it their all and I saw 0 quit from anyone. I think we may drop a couple games we shouldn't but we are definitely trending up.

when toney scored the TD, i saw LSU flashbacks, but this team still stayed in it. same with the JT fumble. we came away stronger mentally i thought. JT has to get his head on right bc those were some inexcusable mistakes by a true junior

We are not that good this year but will improve..

It would have been an LSU type beat down except for the fact that we played one of the stupidest, low football IQ teams i have ever seen.. they were dumber than a box of rocks . They did everything to lose the game, but somehow escaped.

Moral Victories again, we lost to an overrated Gators team.

no moral victory.. we blew a chance at winning.. that was our game.. no excuse.. players and coaches... 200 penalty yards and 10 sacks in that ****** game is a disgrace.. just highlighting it felt different to outsiders who watched us get molly whopped in the pinstripe bowl

This is the point! A lot of people pointing fingers at the rookies but the veteran guys like our kicker and JT really lost that game for us. A loss is on the team but guys that are counted on that messed up should bare the brunt of this loss.

tbh, even to us, realistically, you knew the OL was bad going in. UFs DL is very good and i said it was the best D well see till clemson and people said no, no. hope everyone realizes their D is good. we had our chances and honestly, shouldve won. for a young team, we cant have our older guys mess up like JT. the muffed punt, dropped TD were awful. i was happy with the D and again, rumphs unit, despite the lack of depth and suspensions, is the best coached unit on the team. say what you want about his recruiting, he will be here as long as he continues to do what he does on the field.

Penalties and sloppiness definitely need to be cut back. But the yardage (actually 118 yards) was also inflated by 30 yards on two absolutely ridiculous PI calls against us that weren't even "close" calls, they were just downright wrong. Even the announcers were very blunt about how bad those calls were.

Yeah losing sucked. But I wanted to see fight and we saw that. Yeah it was sloppy but I'm optimistic that gets fixed. I haven't seen a tough canes team in a long time.

Toughness is great but not at the expense of preparation, discipline and focus.

Walking out of the stadium, it was funny to see so many Cane fans happy and so many Gator fans worried. It's going to be an interesting season. I still have low expectations, but anything better than last season is an improvement.

Our fans expected to blow out a second year SEC staff with a higher blue chip ration after going 7-6 and starting freshmen and sophomores all over. Why? No idea. But thats what our fans expected.
