If you want to be a ground and pound team, the Pistol formation is the wrong scheme.
1. Alignment creates predictability
2. Limits angles for RB's
3. LB's read Pistol easier
4. Power football needs momentum and angles
5. Difficult to impose physical dominance at point of attack due to zone blocking

You can't have your cake and eat it too! We are failing because we are trying to be a different team than the scheme we are running. If you run the pistol, you can't be afraid to sling the ball downfield on almost every down. The running game is second. If you want to be a run team first, then you need to run Pro-set.

One of the benefits of the pistol formation is that the rb is directly behind the qb, so there's no tell from rb alignment. Also, we don't run a lot of pistol. We are almost always in shotgun or under center.

We don't run a traditional pro-set shotgun, we run a hybrid of the pro-set and the pistol. That's part of the problem in my opinion. Need to make up your mind as to what type of team you want to be....

We are misaligned because we are a much superior pass protection team and our offense is more efficient when we throw the ball. We need to throw to set up the run. We are backwards

Until many of you have a come to Jesus moment and realize all issues lead back to Mario and the ppl running this school.. you’ll continue to spin and chase your tail.
