OT - Was the Dolphins front office in 2002 - 09 the most incompetent the NFL has seen?

In the wake of fantasy football I was having a conversation with a coworker (FSU alumni) and talk shifted to the Dolphins. We were talking about how bad the franchise has been over the last two decades and it kind of hit me how many awful, truly awful personnel choices that they made. Specifically overdrafting on the HB and QB position and the expense of the rest of the team.

QB: Five second round draft picks
2004 - traded for AJ Feely (lasted 1 year)
2006 - traded for Dante Culpepper (lasted 1 year)
2007 - drafted John Beck (lasted just over a year)
2008 - drafted Chad Henne (lasted 4 years)
2009 - drafted Pat White (lasted 1 year)

HB: Three first round draft choices, one third round draft choice
2002 first rounder traded for Ricky Williams
2003 first rounder traded for Ricky Williams
2004 third rounder traded for Lamar Gordon
2005 first rounder used on Ronnie Brown

And that’s not counting the third rounders used for Travis Minor and Lorenzo Booker. It just seems an absurd amount of resources to use with not much return, especially at QB. This overcommitment has to rank Miami’s front office of the time as one of the worst of all time.

Ross is a horrible NFL owner. Great real estate guy. Horrible NFL owner. He's the guy hiring these front office buffoons.

Go Canes!!!!!!

The most incredible thing about the Dolphins to me is the number of high draft picks and big FA deals spent on the offensive line, and how little they had to show for it.

Tampa Bays says hold my beer.

New GM is hired five years ago after Bucs finish in last place in the NFC South. Five years and two HCs later the Bucs finish last in the NFC South.

GM is given a contract extension.

Not even close to most incompetent.

Yep...so many high draft choices. I swear, it seemed like we spent a decade drafting offensive and defensive linemen in the first round. Incredible to think that between 1998 and 2015, we only spent one second rounder and no first rounders on wide receivers.

Oakland Raiders want a shot at this

Phins passed on Rodgers in '05 as well.

I like where Grier and Flores are going. We've seen the usual carousel of no-talent NFL execs run the team into the ground, but Ross finally decided to go unconventional and now they're doing what should have done a long time ago.

Don’t get me wrong, our GM is horrible but I heard Arians wasn’t coming to TB without Licht. Plus he is tied to Winston. So if Jameis fails this year, Licht will probably be gone with him.
