OT-Sad news

We've gone through the same thing. Many of you I don't remember the sad story of Ceasar O'Neal, a first USA Today All Anerican who never got to go to a single practice, much less play in a game:

You might also remember Derwin Jones who was a key member of our DL in our national championship game against Oklahoma St the end of the 1987 season.

Derwin died of cancer in his '30's.

Rocky Belk of our early '80's teams died about a decade ago of cancer.

Sad to see such young people have their lives cut short.

We tend to think of athletes as sort of super humans and their deaths get made out as especially tragic but death comes like a thief in the night for many. We Canes are family and have suffered many early deaths. It does well to remember that every breath is a gift. May the Peace of Our Lord be with all who have suffered loss, especially my Cane brothers and sisters.
