Since it's the offseason and we all have time to kill, I figured I'd give a shout-out to a game I've been playing for a few weeks now: Football Coach. For those of you who have played one of the EA NCAA games, it's basically a stripped-down version of Dynasty Mode. In Football Coach, your goal is to turn your chosen team into a championship-caliber dynasty. You're responsible for recruiting, managing rosters, and setting offensive and defensive philosophies.
The game is free for both iOS and Android. The Android version came out first and is a little more fully-featured, but the iOS has mostly caught up to it. There's also an NFL version, Pro Football Coach, that's available for Android for like a buck. I'm stuck on iOS so I haven't tried PFC, but it has online multiplayer and downloadable rosters, which seems pretty cool.
There's a subreddit for both games, https://www.reddit.com/r/FootballCoach. I've dropped an absurd amount of time into this game, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's going stir crazy waiting for the season to start. Pro-tip: There's a team in the South conference called Key West. Their rival is Florida, so if you rename them to Miami, you can lay the smackdown on the Gators over and over and watch them descend into irrelevancy
