I find this difficult to believe. If true, perhaps the worst evaluation in college football history.

From an article about the Iron Bowl history, and a game-winning 4th-and-goal TD by Bo Jackson.

His (then-new Auburn HC Pat Dye) second call was one he'd made a few times already, to a multisport superstar in Bessemer, Alabama, named Vincent Jackson. The kid they called "Bo" had wanted to attend Alabama, but had been told by Bama coaches he'd probably not play until his junior year, and likely at linebacker.

"We told him he'd start as a freshman and he'd get to carry it 20 times a game," Crowe confesses now. "Now, how we were going to do that, we weren't entirely sure. We had a lot of running backs. But we figured it out. Just so happened that my 20-carries promise to Bo was the one promise that actually worked out!"

Jackson started his first game at fullback. Then he broke a long run in a season-opening win over Wake Forest. "We were walking off the field after the game," Dye recalls. "I said to Jack, I don't want to tell you how to do your business over there, but you might want to think about making that guy your featured back."

Pedo State offered Jim Kelly as a linebacker.
We offered Marshall Faulk as a corner . He was adamant about playing running back. He actually wanted to play here, but not CB.

What I never understand when people say this stuff is perhaps peeople think just cause hes recruited to one position it means it's set in stone. For instance cam as a tight end, ahmmon as a db,sean as a rb,Alonzo as a dt. **** near half of our dominant teams from the 80s through mid 90s was recruited at other positions than they played for us...

We started DJ Williams at RB

DJ played fullback not running back.

Pretty sure if Richt did that people on here would be crucifying him for burning his redshirt.

DJ Williams played RB and LB in high school. He rushed for nearly 2,000 yards his senior season, and scored 42 touchdowns rushing, receiving, and special teams. This in addition to bring National Defensive Player of The Year. Freak.

I thought the story was interesting, as Bo ended up one of GOAT running backs of all time. Bama told him he’s sit for two years and play LB. The story may not even be true.

True. Sapp was a TE.

Bo probably played both ways in high school. The idea of him not playing RB seems so ridiculous in hindsight, and how great Bo was. For all we know he could have been the next LT as a LB.

So our OL should all be at receiver?
They can't block got use em somewhere.wonder what Florida would do next yr .if on our first offensive play oline lined up as receivers and receivers lined up as olinemen.love to see the reaction everybody would have.posters here would go berserk instant catastrophic meltdown.
