The ghosts of Orange Bowl past have finished raping us.

Our former coach just got done ripping the dead heart out of Sebastian's chest and squeezing it into mash. He just got done looking the dying bird in the eye and saying "get the **** out of my house."

This is the same coach who our arrogant, dimwitted BOT sent packing back in the day because he didn't fit in to their little club. The same coach who they REFUSED to EVEN INTERVIEW.... not once.... not twice..... not three times..... but FOUR COACHING SEARCHES in a row.

THAT man just beat the brakes off Miami. And he did it with a team that didn't even play football in 2001, and that didn't even field ONE PLAYER who the university of miami offered a scholarship to.

But getting back to the stadium.

It's about god**** time we stopped sleeping on this issue. No more giving free passes to the admin for going CHEAP and CUTTING CORNERS.

We are literally ALONE as the ONLY program that does not have its own field. Besides Pitt and a couple other minors. We play in a rented stadium, decked out in Dolphins crap, owned by a Michigan super-doner who held a celebration for Tim Tebow and the 2008 Gators right there on the fifty yard line.

Our plastic ring of fame banner is printed each weekend by Party City and delivered in a UPS truck through the back gate.

The entire college experience is cheapened. Recruiting is gutted. Home field advantage is a joke. By the time our students finish driving an hour in heavy traffic to get to the stadium, they're too tired to even cheer.

They tell us we can't afford it. They tell us the city won't allow it. They tell us not to think about it, that the Dolphins stadium is great because the roof keeps fans cool and the tailgating is nice. And so, some fans sell the soul of this program for a sack of beans.

The truth is, the admin want this program DEAD.

They wanted us gone from the beginning. The school used the football program in the 70's and 80's when it was convenient for them, then they threw it away like a cheap, used up *****.

Manny Senior and the Troll literally sat down together one day and picked out the wrecking ball that would RIP DOWN the orange bowl. True story.

And what do we do? Not only do we fans let that slide, we cheer when the same BOT hire his son to rip the program apart from the inside.

And you know what? Donna and Manny Sr popped a bottle of Dom when the stadium demolition was done.

Fact is, this admin doesn't care about football. They don't care about fans or students. They don't care about the kids. They want to wash their grubby, blood-stained hands of football forever.

I'm just glad that people are FINALLY starting to figure that out.

The only thing we can do is refuse to forget. Don't forget how these slimebags destroyed the Canes with their greed. Don't forget how these people robbed the taxpayers of Miami and fleeced them out of billions.

Don't give them a pass, and don't let them make lame excuses.

Whatever. That's all I have to say.

You made some very good points dude... a lot of areas to focus on and to address.

No doubt that Shalala's tenure was all about expanding UHealth and totally neglecting the sport that put the U on the map and made it as recognizable a brand as Nike. Her legacy lives in the BOT and with Miami turning more international each day, football is becoming less of a priority as time goes on. Hence the slow death that has befallen one of the greatest football programs in history.

Another thing is the stadium, which is directly linked to the Shalala mentality with football. Joe Robbie Stadium is NOT our home, rather it's where we play our home games. The Tebow/UF national championship celebration held in JRS was a ******* gutless abomination... and only a Cane fan who also loves the Dolphins and attends games there regularly could have condoned that horseshiit, and can look the other way. To this day just the thought of it makes me nauseous. Now, I've already proven that some of the staunch supporters of us playing in JRS is the Broward contingents, and of course why would they agree on a closer to campus stadium... no brainer.

We as Canes fans have a shiitload of problems with our beloved program and I would hope that the football Gods will send us some much needed blessings...ASAP.

You're exactly right. UM is not really a university at all anymore.... it's more like a hospital with a university tacked on to the side.

And there's nothing wrong with that. But IMO they should be run totally separately.

Miami football makes about $100 million per year in revenue. UHealth makes well over 10 times as much. Which is why UM brass should hire a COMPETENT athletic director, and LEAVE HIM ALONE.

Letting the Orange Bowl be torn down was the ultimate incompetence, and playing at Sun Life rent-a-stadium is downright embarrassing.

Would not be surprised if FIU wins a national title before UM at this point. They have every advantage that UM has, and none of the mismanagement. Pete Garcia is 100x better than Baked Flames.

Exactly, there's nothing wrong with having UHealth... my wife and I see some specialists at the Lennar Medical Bldg. next to campus, and I can definitively say that they run a world class operation there... second to none. Also Sylvester and Bascom Palmer are nationally recognized as elite.

That's all great but let's not sacrifice the football program... enough damage has already taken place. The BOT needs to be made aware that dissing the sports program is not acceptable. That's why I firmly believe that banners and billboards are good methods to get the message out by shedding a negative light on the school and shaking up the U's administration. Like you say UHealth and football should both exist at an elite level.
