I’m in the market for a new truck, mid sized likely I don’t think I have a true need for a half ton truck. What do you guys have a what’s your opinions? I know the Tacoma is considered the leader in that segment

I've got a Tacoma and it works just fine for hauling stuff. I haven't had to tow anything yet, but it supposedly can tow 6500 lbs.

An odd but of trivia: It's a double cab and can seat 5, but has 13 cupholders.
13 cup holders is diabolical lol

I love chevy trucks

but its hard to beat out the tacoma for mid-sized

I just traded for another Silverado, but I drove several Tundras, and I had to force myself to believe I was getting another Chevy becuase it was 'a little better on gas' than the Tundra

I do like the Silverado and the updated Colorado. I think current Colorado has the best interior out of all of them. Just don’t know how that turbo 4 cylinder will hold up over time

I drive a Sierra 1500 Denali. Wouldn’t drive anything else.

Drove Yukons for more than a decade before changing to a truck

What are you using the truck for? Daily driver/ towing/ just need a bed for Home Depot?

Ive owned mainly Silverado 1500s and 2500 duramaxs. Always had good luck on the 1500s but the new ones have some issues with the 10 speed trans. Buddy just got his back for the 3rd time from chevy after 6 months waiting on parts for his trans.

F150 with a 5.0 is hard to beat. new interiors are very roomy and comfy.

If you don't care about fancy options/ power tacoma is a safe bet. hold there value the best, lowest cost of maintenance to own and probably best fuel mileage.

You already figured it out if you want a mid-size truck : Tacoma. I love mine (currently 2 actually) - but I rarely have passengers, I wouldn't travel hours with adults in the back. Personally, I would only own a 6ft bed, much more utility and long enough to sleep in the back on camping trips.

I do miss my Silverados, but everything is a compromise and I prefer a Tacoma as a daily driver.

How do you like that topper? Which one is it?

Softopper. I love it. Goes on and off in minutes or collapses forward to get out of the way and stays pretty dry. Got super lucky and found it in almost new condition on Facebook marketplace for $100. But I would pay full price for one.

I have to move a bunch of boxes that I'd like to keep out of the weather, but didn't really want a fiberglass cap. I have a tonneau on it now, but want more space. Looks perfect.

Only con IMO is you do lose a good amount of rear visibility (probably more than a cap). But I installed a rear view mirror with front-facing and rear-facing cameras - perfect compliment.

I'll probably only use it when hauling stuff. Which is why minimal storage space in the garage is important.
